"Synopsis:

A thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on the current and historical root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unlike any other film ever produced on the conflict -- 'Occupation 101' presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the never ending controversy and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and misconceptions.

The film also details life under Israeli military rule, the role of the United States in the conflict, and the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace. The roots of the conflict are explained through first-hand on-the-ground experiences from leading Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists, religious leaders and humanitarian workers whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets.

The film covers a wide range of topics -- which include -- the first wave of Jewish immigration from Europe in the 1880's, the 1920 tensions, the 1948 war, the 1967 war, the first Intifada of 1987, the Oslo Peace Process, Settlement expansion, the role of the United States Government, the second Intifada of 2000, the separation barrier and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, as well as many heart wrenching testimonials from victims of this tragedy.

Featured Interviews

Occupation 101 features a leading list of some of the most credible Middle East scholars, historians, peace activists, journalists, and humanitarian workers. "

highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn about this situation.
  • I posted this documentary ages ago. Thinking to watch it for a third time.

There's another documentary filmed by Israeli soldiers at the checkpoints....man did that ever drive home the reality of it all.

When learning about this issue I went back and forth on it a few times over the course of a year, however now it's rather clear to me what's going on.

Dumping billions and billions of dollars of blind hatred on a bunch of dirt poor farmers because they are human beings with thoughts and emotions like everyone else.

It's sick in the head like no other, and now they have the whole world believing their sick little, for profit, racist lies.

  • 'Checkpoint' is also a very good doc on the situation
'and I can't imagine why you wouldn't welcome any change, my brother'

'How a culture can forget its plan of yesterday
and you swear it's not a trend
    it doesn't matter anyway
there's no need to talk as friends
    nothing news everyday
all the kids will eat it up
    if it's packaged properly'

'Occupation 101' is a solid documentary...A must see.

I've only seen parts of it when it came out, but just watched the whole thing now. Thanks Roland for posting it.

Thanks. Definitely a pre-requisite on the short list prior to discussing the issue.

So basically people living in palestine/israel who have not watched this movie should refrain from discussing this issue? That may be a solution.

People can talk about anything they want. Having an informed discussion is another reality altogether.

It's not something you will ever see shown on terrestrial t.v in either Britain or the U.S. As far as I'm aware this documentary can only be seen via the net.

I saw 'Checkpoint' on either IFC or Sundance but they were having a week or so of documentaries on different things like that and the sweatshops that make beads and other stuff for Mardi Gras and the workers can lose a day or more pay for talking and the bosses acted like there was nothing wrong w/ that.

    Did ya watch Checkpoint yet?

True, you wont see it on Aussie TV either (unless it makes it on a late night slot on sbs) but with the internet the word has been SLOWLY spreading. I find there are a lot more people who have an idea of what the Palestinians are going through than 10 years ago (this is just my feeling/opinion, i could be wrong).

Yeah, the internet speed is also really fast in Korea. I think Korea has one of the fastest in the world.
But Japan is also a very expensive country to live in. I do want to go and work there one day, but not until I have enough cash under my belt.

The quality on YouTube's a bit shit though. And you have to watch it in stops and starts. It's best just to get the whole thing in one go.

It's easy. Just download BitTorrent to your desktop and it converts it automatically.
