Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Tell you what. If Obama turns into a fascist I'll be the first to take up arms. Till then, I'm still probably going to be voting for him.

The reason Hitler was so successful was that he didn't turn into a fascist until he could without opposition. Obama just needs to keep brain washing everyone with the media.

That's not a bad idea right now but has nothing to do with Obama.

I mean, if you consider what it is to be a fascist and a fascist government, the last eight years by definition have been far closer than anything Obama has proposed. He'd have to go far further to the right than George W. Bush is. I don't really see that happening.

But like I said, if it does, you and me can head the revolutionary movement together.

Fortunately, with eugenics and good breeding, we can eventually eliminate those defects.

it's been removed. what a shame.
  • This sort of thing would bother me coming from any side. That said, I don't think it's dangerous (at this stage anyway) and it doesn't really say anything relevant about Obama.

Maybe it's just me, but it sort of feels like we're passing time now until the next phase of financial meltdown (a day-to-day occurence really) and actual election results itself. Obama is pulling away and I think most everyone feels it, meanwhile the world markets are a mess. For me it feels a bit surreal with the lameduck in office until January, taking next to no leadership role in what is happening right now. What an awful time to be stuck in a holding pattern.

Hmmm you could be onto something there...

But seriously Roland, i'd be more worried about some of the fanatical freaks that post on this message board, especially in the porch, than what you are trying to insinuate here. That's just me though.

Oh, he was definitely a fascist from the start. His party was based on restoring german pride and "rightful place in the world", with quite aggressive language. He just didn't get really mean about it (exterminating jews, starting wars etc) until he was securely in power. Power he got because people were tired of failed democracy where noone cooperated and nothing got done. That's why both he and Mussolini could get majority control, with a fraction of the votes (20-30 % i think at the height for both).

It would surprise the fuck out of me if Obama suddenly became a fascist. He looks like to be a pretty regular US president, so at least not more fascist than the last presidents, and likely a little less than the current one.

    Peace

You're not even capable of distinguishing a full out fascist and racist (Hitler had already written Mein Kampf before the elections) from a moderate left candidate? Even if you have kids singing in both cases, the ideology behind is pretty different. If you're not able to see that, you should maybe abstain yourself from voting.

Yep, I don't see Obama (or McCain for that matter) doing or saying things as fascistic in the ideology as W did during his 8 years. At least that is a bit of a change.

Candidate? Distinguish? I didn't say the Obama is Hitler and here are his nazi youth kids. I did say between the lines these kids could put the Hitler youth to shame with their fervor...which I think is apparent. Speaking of distinguish...how are you at thread titles?

Check it out... the Obama Hitler youth. I think I may have focused too much on it. And while I agree with you that such a fervor with kids is kind of disturbing don't you think it's less disturbing seeing this fervor for the ideologies in Obama's program (however you feel about it) rather than the ones exposed in Mein Kampf?
I don't know what people have with Hitler comparisons, but they're pretty stupid. Comparing people, ideas, actions etc. to what Hitler and the nazis did is not an argument. On the contrary, it kills all argumentation because when you have decided someone/something is that far into evil you've just closed all possibility of discussion.

and your opinion is relevant because......?

roland, you haven't been able to find something warm and fuzzy to cuddle up to since your boy Paul (or was it Nader? does it even matter??) disappeared from the radar. get over yourself. we are faced with huge challenges. you need to drop your i'm-so-cool-i-don't-have-to-care-about-any-of-this facade and either pick a candidate or go live in a cave until nirvana as you define it comes to pass. the choice is yours.
