Ahmadinejad Asks Bush to Speak at Iranian University

As part of a rather controversial trip to the U.N. in New York. Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke at the American University of Columbia facing a rather unfriendly crowd.

After these events unfolded the Iranian president opened an offer for Bush to do the same in Iran. "If their president plans to travel to Iran, we will allow him to make a speech" at a university, Ahmadinejad told state TV earlier this week.

These statements were broadcast on Iranian state TV this Friday displaying an unusual readiness by Iran to renew diplomatic ties with the U.S. The two countries haven't had formal relations for over quarter of a century.
