Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Exactly... I want to know why National Geographic is even doing a piece like this....
This is one of their rotating top stories...

this is all part of the Bilderburg group's masterplan to brainwash us into thinking the "re-wilding" plan is a great idea! right?
its even airing on March 9th! get it ? 3/9? Do I even have to tell you how thats related to 9/11? The signs are everywhere!!!!! OPEN YOUR MIND!
THIS IS HOW IT HAPPENS PEOPLE! THIS IS HOW FREEDOM DIES!

Ding Ding Ding!

right it's 100% normal for a mainstream source such a NG to post an in depth professionally produced piece like this in light of current events
Of course...doesn't even raise an eyebrow eh?
of course not...

i agree with everything you just said, minus the sarcasm.
Did you watch any of it? (stupid question of course you didn't) but anyhow hi-rise buildings collapsing...planes crashing to the ground and exploding...
Pretty average and routine National Geographic type stuff...
yeap...

my only complaint is how many times do i have to see the Statue of Liberty get destroyed? its such lazy writing. and why is it always New York? There are plenty of other cities to blow up real good.
i dont know about NG specifically, but Discovery channel and others always have some kind of disaster show on. They are pretty cool. i watch them. Even though the FX are pretty bad usually.
You forgot the extreme forground of the mainpage which shows an anmiation of the head and torch of the statue of liberty falling off to a "wretching" twisted metal sound.
Nice.
huh?
If I opened it now would you not understand?
Sweep the Leg Johnny.
Its describing what earth would be like without humans. You would not be here anyway so who cares, just watch it.
I saw a liitle of this last week, it was pretty interesting.
Sweep the Leg Johnny.
interesting to see how fucked we would be if all the nuclear cooling buildings suddenly lost power.
I always try to put myself into the minds of production staff when they storyboard stuff like this, rather than just looking at the finished product.
"Yeah what if we had the statue of liberty's head falling off and crashing to the ground...yeah awesome... code it.. script it...put it on the front page of the website as well."
I find it all somewhat skewed in the head.
Pretty odd for a NG to portray global destruction fantasy scenarios in such detail.

I agree... it must be inspired (or based on) a book that was out this past year. I'm too lazy to do some research, but the author was on Jon Stewart one night describing the chain of events that would happen a1fter we left. It sounded kinda interesting.
edit: I took 5 seconds to try to find it on Amazon, and this is the book:
The World Without Us
by Alan Weisman

I read the book and it was actually pretty interesting. It focuses more on the lasting effect we would have on the planet long after we are gone.
I didn't see the National Geographic special but I did see one not too long ago on the History Channel and it was pretty interesting. It probably did get the idea from the Alan Wiseman book but did not focus too much on the effects we would leave behind on the environment.
The book and the special where not meant to be these doomsday scenerios with the intention of scaring the public into conformity. They are a study into what would happen if humans where to up and vanish overnight.
hehe...I saw the preview on tv but that was funnier:)
sensationalism sells.
NG jumped the shark years ago.
to dust i guess,
forgotten and absorbed into the earth below,..
