"Behold, the Bush Administration in chart form: Federal spending on paper shredding has increased more than 600 percent since George W. Bush took office. This chart, generated by usaspending.gov, the U.S. government's brand spanking new database of federal expenditures, shows spending on "contracts for paper shredding services" going back to 2000. Click here for the full, heartbreaking breakdown. In 2000, the feds spent $452,807 to make unpleasant truths go away; by 2006, the "Cheney Effect" had bumped that number up to $2.9 million. And by halfway through 2007, the feds almost matched that number, with $2.7 million and counting. Pretty much says it all."

Do about what? you mean impeachment?

This isn't an impeachment thread. I would have titled somewhere along those lines if it was. If shredding paper was an impeachable offense every president thus far would probably have been be impeached.

It's more of things that make you go hmm thread.

  • As in "hmmmmmmm, they must be using 6 times the paper they used to. Naughty administration!"

I'm not a Bush fan, but this really is too insignificant to speculate on in my humble opinion.

    Cheers,

In a White House that has mandatory labeled everything "classified" the public probably think the only thing being shredded are newspapers. How insignificant to speculate on the destruction of CIA interrogation tapes and e-mails. How insignificant to speculate on the fact that the White House refuses to turn over documents to the National Archives. How insignificant to speculate on the documents relating to Abrams and Rove's campaign funding raising activities. How insignificant to speculate on the documents relating to Libby.

No lets not speculate on the insignificance of what is being shredded.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

yes ... living our lives is much easier that way ... speculate too much and i might actually see something i don't want ... best to stay in the dark ...
  • I'm not saying that what was shredded didn't matter. In fact a lot of what was shredded was surely confidential and in the public's interest. However the simple fact that the volume of shredded documents has increased means very little.

My personal opinion, however, says you may have a point. But it's just an opinion.
