In Global Cancer Facts & Figures, the American Cancer Society reported 12 million new cases of cancer worldwide in 2007. 7.6 million people died from the disease. 5.4 million of those cancers and 2.9 million deaths are in developed nations, while 6.7 million new cancer cases and 4.7 million deaths are in developing countries. In developed countries, the most common cancers among men are prostate, lung and colorectal cancer. Among women they are breast, colorectal and lung cancer. In developing countries the three most common cancers among men are lung, stomach and liver, and among women, breast, and cervix uteri.

So much of it has to do with diet.

Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

I have yet to hear of an unhealthy vegie or fruit. Sad figures nonetheless. Unfortunately they will most likely keep rising.

The figures don't differentiate between benign, metastasized or recurrent cancers though.
