Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

these are the things that hurt MMs credibility...

How many police officers are shot at with actual guns that they had not seen.

what exactly is Michael's point? racism existe? We can trust the police?

I think either way it's a good thing. He's pointing out a fact that exists and making people think about it and ask questions.

That's always (always) a good thing.

well, I don't know - there is underlying racism in our country.. and there are bad cops

But there is also a large amount of hatred for cops

    All three are bad

Jumping on one bad bandwagon to ridicule another is just throwing fuel on a fire

You have to look at all the symptoms to effectively diagnose the disease.

are you at all familiar with the amadou diallo story? if you were, you'd understand the parody.

  • i live in austin... this is an ongoing situation for the city.... in the last 4 years 8 black young black men and one hispanic have been killed and all of the police officers shooting are white men... all were taught to have a weapon when all of them indeed were unarmed... it's gotten to the point where the chief of police has been discharged and we now have an hispanic chief of police.... the last police officer that killed a black man was fired... the last i heard the fbi is about to get involved.
This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.
  • Michael Moore should have his own sticky here...he's got it all covered. :D

If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

i like the part near the end where the ppl at borders and their wonderful health plan
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

    the parody is not complex.

You know how many stories there are of police officers being shot?

They do a very difficult job - low pay - low education - poor laws - poor enforcement. they do this job in a country with pathetic leadership

The message in no way should be that cops are stupid or careless.

  • It's a very sad reality, with lack of education at the root cause. Actually lack of education is the cause of 95% of America's problems.

Put the time money and energy back in to the people dammit or it's just going to keep getting worse.

It's all getting shot off into Iraq. Thanks GW for really thinking it all through!

Pretty soon the police are just going to be targets if they aren't already.

    It's a symptom of a bigger problem.

    absolutely!!!!!!!

and by education - its not only "money for college". We need real education and mentoring for EVERYONE! from childhood.. regardless of income or social position.. children must have a good meal and a good night sleep to get an education... If we invested our money in food, shelter, health care and education for everyone while in school... a great number of out problems would fix themselves.. and suddenly we would not consider ourselves incapable of working toghether (you know that whole government sucks thing)

    I have a solution...
Eliminate the problem... black cops patrol black neighborhoods... white cops, white neighborhoods, Latino cops in Latino neighborhoods and gay cops in gay neighborhoods.
That way... when there is a police shooting... race/gayity is noot an issue.
