Took about a week, but looks as though he personally responded. Stephen Harper's office is ignoring me now as I counter raise the hard questions seeking answers. Fuckers...
Anyhow, he attached me two PDF files with additional info. I must say at first glance I am impressed. Thought I would share. C'mon people start emailing your politicians and representatives. Time isn't standing still!!
Have yourselves a good night I'm off to the beaches for the jazz fest...
Thank you for your past email outlining your concern for our national sovereignty. New Democrats share your concern.
You will find attached a letter that I recently sent to Prime Minister Harper detailing our concern over the cancellation of the Council of Canadians workshop in Papineauville, Quebec on the subject of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). NDP International Trade critic Peter Julian has been working with the Council of Canadians to find alternate arrangements.
In Parliament, I have asked Prime Minister Harper why his government refuses to inform everyday Canadians about Canada's participation at the SPP meetings. In my questions, I noted that this whole process is very vague. Secret talks are being held on security, transportation, the environment, health care and energy, all without the mandate of Parliament and without any public input.
The fact is, the NDP is the only party capable of standing up for Canada's sovereignty and we are doing just that. In contrast, the SPP negotiations were initiated by the Liberal government of Paul Martin in 2005, and have been continued by the Conservatives.
As part of our ongoing efforts to expose and halt the SPP agenda, Peter Julian was successful in securing televised hearings on the so-called "Security and Prosperity Partnership" (SPP) of North America meetings.
He also was instrumental in having a motion on water exports introduced for debate in Parliament by the Standing Committee on International Trade. You will find the points raised by the NDP in the following link:
http://cmte.parl.gc.ca/cmte/CommitteePublication.aspx?COM=10801&Lang=1&S
ourceId=206534.
I have also attached a copy of Peter's May 30th question to the Harper government as one such example of how hard we are pushing for answers on this crucial issue. You can find out more about Peter's work by
visiting: (http://www.ndp.ca/page/1444; http://www.ndp.ca/page/4413; http://www.ndp.ca/page/4927; and http://www.ndp.ca/page/5550).
You may also be interested to know that on August 20th, NDP MP Paul Dewar will hold a public forum on this matter. He will be joined by Peter Julian and other leading opponents of deep integration.
Looking forward, whether it's on climate change, child care, prescription drugs, the high cost of gas and ATM fees, takeovers by foreign companies, or the war in Afghanistan the federal NDP is working on the issues that everyday Canadians care about. You can find out more about our work at http://www.ndp.ca or by subscribing to our e-mail bulletin at subscribe@ndp.ca.
Again, I appreciate your interest in defending our country's sovereignty. We will continue to raise these concerns on behalf of all Canadians.
Sincerely,
Jack Layton, MP (Toronto-Danforth)

Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

It is too late for me to get into reading all of that tonight but I will check it out for sure. It really concerns me and I think all Canadians need to be concerned about this. We need to remain as we are, our own country although I am still not letting go of the idea of the Turks and Caicos joining us Asshats saying no to that
What exactly did you say in your letters? well, not exactly - I'm not asking you to post them (but that'd be nice!)...I'm just curious how radical you got about the topic.

Oops. It wasn't the NDP. I just checked their homepage. So I checked the Greens of Canada.
I saw this:
Governments must ensure full pension benefits for laid
That wasn't it either. Benefits for those of us that get laid?
What was that party?
I think Ahnimus posted it.

I just asked him what his position is on it. Looks like it is not some pipe dream made up by Alex Jones, but rather reality taking place in secrecy. I was very polite.
