Produces 10 gallons of distilled water using only 500 watts of electricity. Absolutely remarkable if it delivers on the design promise.

"The Slingshot may not be revolutionary in that distillers have already been invented, but this water purifier makes a thousand liters of water per day. Producing ten gallons of clean water for an hour will only consume 500 watts of electricity, reiterating how low cost and energy efficient it is.

Its also unbelievably simple, and it doesn't need any new filters to replace every so often or maintenance.

Dean Kamen emphasizes that the most impressive characteristic of his water purifier is that you can use it to purify any kind of water. Unlike your common faucet mount water purifiers, the Slingshot will work with all kinds of unclean water, even water crawling with microorganisms and parasites, even ocean water, even water that doesnt come from your tap.

Dirty water, even water from the sewers, is placed in the water purifier and evaporates, thereby dividing the impurities from the gunk, which is then sucked out of the purifier."

well ... there is a reason for your negativity ... it seems that short of programs from charitable groups - any other program to help developing countries comes with conditions of exploitation ...
  • The intended target price is around the $1500 dollar range.

To put it in perspective, my water distiller takes 5 times the amount of power to run and produces about a third of the volume of pure water, and also takes 5 times longer to make this one third.

It almost sounds too good to be true. If it's true, this is very big.

    They'll never let this happen.

I'm sure Rupert Murdoch and his other elitist douchebags will threaten this guy's life (and/or family) and put a stop to this. Probably even kill him. They'll sweep this thing under the rug.

I purifying system such as this one could be a major catalyst and starting point for solving many of the problems of natural resources, in some of the most impoverished and desolate countries. Think about it, clean water....better crops....better resources. This could solve several problems all at once.

The douchebag elitists can't have that happening.
