That bites donkey nuts man, I liked Russo.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire0

I just watched Freedom to Fascism again... What a powerful film. Everyone should watch this movie and take heed to what this guy is saying.

that movie bummed me out in a major way, even while i was the whole time going "thats right", "yep", "yep", "thats how i feel" ...
... i mean getting through highschool, developing "progressive" thoughts and thinking "radical" ... "going green", and reaching for self-actualization ... it all seems so important ... until you finaly solve the problem by realizing there is no solution.
That's the message i think this video really communicates.
Try your best, do what you can, what you gotta do, and try to embrace the pain. Because i truly belive the world is in for it all. Blech.
I say blech, but i actualy get excited about it.
Bring it on, lets go. Lets do it now. I talked to one of my closest friends to highschool the otherday for the first time in about 5 years. We used to, and still do, share so many of the same values goals and outlooks. She asked me about somethings, like if i truly bought in to zeitgeist. Then we talked about oil and political corruption. Then we talked about peak oil, and ecosystem collapses, and other sundries warm and fuzzy affairs.
She asked me what i had come to conclude about it all, what my take was, and how i intended to address it - if at all.
I told her that I simply felt it was insurmountable. That I felt some of the greatest minds on the subjects of sustainability (William McDonough, Amory Lovins, etc) are so pessimistic about the possibility of corporations truly changing in time; that so many of the problems are beyond the ability of "the market" or all of the worlds governments to truly address; that population overshoot is truly unfixable; that oil-culture is inherently doomed and quickly reaching its end ... that it is just not worth trying to address.
The solution is to EMBRACE it. I told her that i was basicaly "just waiting".
Her response kind've floored me more than the rest of our discussion put together. She said, "Why is it that all my friends feel the same way?", and continued, "It's like they all just realize we can't do shit. And they want to just get it over with."
That shocked me. I think it really may be a generational thing. Most of my literate, liberal values, "freaky" 28-32 year old friends are like that, and so apparently are all of hers. That makes me feel a lot less crazy.
Speaking of crazy,
i can't believe how drunk and emotional i was, looking above me at all my Russo rantings.
I think i really was near tears or with water in my eyes that night.
What REALLY bums me is that Aaron said (i think in his Alex Jones interview) that he was planning a NEW MOVIE ... and he wouldn't reveal ANYTHING about it, saying only that it was going to be "really good", a real shocker or something ... if only we knew what that new documentary was to be, and if only he got to shoot it.

What amazed me, is like yourself, I already had it formulated and the documentary was just confirming what I had already come to the conclusion of. A bit spooky to see it all formally laid out and echoed back to me.
Around 15 I started realizing what was coming from a population perspective. Being older and factoring in economics and the environment with greater clarity is... well...let's just say it is what it is. Until I start seeing a lot people catching up and actually becoming aware, and start thinking more progressively, my optimism will remain somewhat lack luster towards those who are merrily rolling along unabated and unaffected. It doesn't bother me to any great degree, at least once every day I have a good laughing fit about one thing or another, often throughout the day. My sense of humor has not been affected yet. There has always been great feats of adaptation accomplished by mankind.
Now that's optimistic!Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.
