The poor Dems have been trying to come up with some way to fight Bush's plan to surge the number of troops in Iraq. Yet for three weeks they haven't found a compromise. Maybe that's because they themselves can't come up with a way out of this mess without having to admit their complicity....ahem, Hillary.

But today, they seem to be approaching a more middle-ground way of making Bush account for his decisions about Iraq in the months ahead.

And all I can say (as a former Republican) is.....at least the Dems are trying.

That works for me. Put short-term, achievable, measurable goals/objectives into place. If they aren't met, pull the troops. If the Iraqis don't hold up their end, pull the troops.

At least heads are starting to roll there. Heads should have been rolling because they fucked up. Instead heads are rolling because they got caught by the media. But at least heads are rolling.
