For those of you who are on myspace.com, I'm Lis or lis64 or myspace.com/lis64 and I have a recording of MLK Jr.'s speech on Nam that -- if you listen all the way through, and put it in perspective (and parallel) with Iraq -- will make you think.

Peace, and good night,

they played in on alternative radio yesterday ... let's see - a leader who was against the corporate empire - ASSASSINATED ...
  • If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

Instead of making this about Iraq, corporate america, or ron paul maybe we should all just listen to his famous speech and praise the man for being one of greatest it ever live.

mlk jr. fought against corporate america ... probably why he is dead ... honouring a man shouldn't be selective to only the points one likes ...
  • What would MLK say if he was alive today?

Whatever it would be, it would certainly contain many words on Iraq and corporate America.

To ignore that, is to ignore him as a person, and what he stood for altogether..

(but you all knew that already... ;) )
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Much has improved in that regard since his day. I'd be willing to bet it would envelop to include more than just Africans....perhaps even Arabs?!

    *gasp*

But he took on issues of poverty and militarism because he considered them vital "to make equality something real and not just racial brotherhood but equality in fact," Sitkoff said.
