Taxpayers (meaning, the People) will fund a public pool of energy sources. If we so choose, the annual taxes we would normally pay to our state and Federal governments will be diverted into a single fund, run by, audited by, and funded by, the people.

This fund will pay for wind, solar, and other alternative fuels.

It will be independent of any government control or funding. All patents for solar, wind and alternative fuels will be studied and voted on by the people....for the people.

So, um...who's with me?

Anything that puts more money under the control of the government (ie more taxes) is doomed to fail miserably in my opinion.

that failure of course is always exceeded by the failure of hundreds of millions of individuals pulling in different directions. cooperation and working together is the only possibility of survival - government is a basic necessity. That can not be denied - we must focus on making it more effective.

i agree but the way to make it more effective is to strip it down to a manageable size. I think that placing the responsibility of finding and funding alternative energy source under the governments control will only make that process longer and more costly.

good idea in theory, the problem is that it still needs governing. we will need some way to govern these resources. So the entire thing is one big mess again very soon.

Essentially, we need to turn over the people we have in power currently. Get a variety of true liberals conservatives and moderates focused on improving the state of the nation over any eithnic group or corporation or other special interest project (or getting re-elected) and start doing thier damned job. Public Service is supposed to be a calling, not a profession. Cut the pay in congress to that of say the americorps... and I think you'll see a change.

People are slowly but surely demanding more eco friendly products and the corporations are slowly begrudgingly coming along. We have got to do something about our hulking, inefficient, ineffective government that does not truely fit the needs of the people or the nation as a whole.

The general public needs to get on the freaking ball and start using less of everything.

This is a pretty good plan. I guess. Yawn. Something tells me that it will all fall victim to corruption... like most government projects.
