The Presedential election process

I really feel that the Pres election process should be changed.
I think the presidential candidates should choose their cabinet before the election.
I don't think Bush would have been re-elected if people knew his cabinet was going to change. I think it is an important part of the entire presidency and should be chosen as a whole.

Any thoughts?

I don't know about that, but I say we get rid of the electoral college. It's pointless.

I dont think many people anticipated Bush's cabinet changing. except for powell.
  • I think Rice being Sec of State was enough for Bush to lose the election in itself.

I disagree... if the people who voted for Bush could overlook everything else that his administration has fucked up, knowing who would be in his new cabinet wouldn't have changed anything.

And this isn't a shot at Republicans, but more about our voting public as a whole, most people couldn't even name two cabinet members for any president.

This is exactly right. Few people even know who the VP running mate is. Almost nobody would pay attention to the cabinet choices. It would have a negligible effect on the process.

Tell me, do you view the UN as a sovereign body?
  • By electing the President, you give him the okay to appoint his own cabinet members. I dont see a problem with that. The President has to surround himself with people that he is comfortable with, not who the nation thinks would help him best.
