Dan Quayle walks out of Mellencamp show
07/21/2006 4:42 PM, AP
Don't expect Dan Quayle to attend another John Mellencamp concert. The former vice president, miffed about a comment made by Mellencamp about President Bush's administration, walked out of the singer's July 14 show at Harvey's Lake Tahoe Casino in Stateline, Nev.
Mellencamp, unaware that Quayle was in the audience, introduced the song "Walk Tall" by saying, "This next one is for all the poor people who've been ignored by the current administration."
Quayle, who was in town for a celebrity golf tournament, then made his exit, deciding "enough was enough," his spokesman, Craig Whitney, told the Los Angeles Times for Friday's edition. "He wasn't going to sit there and listen to this."
Mellencamp, however, said he had no regrets.
"I still feel there are many people left behind by this administration," he said in a statement to the Times. "Not talking about problems doesn't make them go away. It's kind of telling that he chose to walk out as I was doing a song about tolerance."
On Friday, Mellencamp's spokesman, Bob Merlis, said the singer did not want to exploit the incident by speaking further about it.
Remember when we were worried that Danny-boy was a heartbeat away from the presidency? I miss those days.

Only an idiot could get upset over such a thing. You have to be a major moron to not recogonize the terrible and sad state of affairs in this country.
Only an idiot.
But then again, we are talking about Dan Quayle-so I run the risk of once again, repeating myself.
It was cool.

Mellencamp rules by the way.
I saw one of the best Mellencamp concerts ever in Saratoga New York.
It was an outdoor amphitheatre with about 15,000 of us sitting on the grass on a woodstock type hill. Everyone brought marshmallows of various sizes and colors and started chucking em at each other. It was freaking awesome man, (and harmless) the even had it on the rules when you came throught the gate like this
- no camera's
- no "this"...
- no "that"....
- no "the other"...
- AND NO MARSHMALLOWS!!
hehe all in caps huge font just like that. I got to know like 10 people deep all around me because of it. Laughed trill I cried. It fucking rocked solid man. Weed everywhere...
One of the best memories of my life...
