Stewart/Colbert. Well probably Colbert/Stewart cause of the ego thing. Either way I would vote for that ticket.
I want to point out that people who seem to have no power, whether working people, people of color, or women -- once they organize and protest and create movements -- have a voice no government can suppress. Howard Zinn
  • yes and no.

In terms of foreign policy Rudy will really fuck shit up. In terms of judicial appointments I can see him nominating a justice that might be conservative on matters of economics and certain civil liberties (wire tapping etc.) but would be fairly liberal on social policy. I would rather have a Clinton appointment (well, I'd actually rather have an Edwards of Obama appointment as they have more legal experience) but a Rudy judge wouldn't be as bad as Roberts or Scalito.

maybe i haven't paid enough attention, what egregious act has roberts committed before or after his nomination?

I guess instead of "bad" I should have said "conservative". If you are a liberal and disagree with conservative jurisprudence you would probably think that siding against Oregon's death with dignity act and siding with a partial-birth abortion ban would be a bad thing. That being said it appears that he will be to the left of Rehnquist, which isn't saying much. I don't know why judicial appointments aren't a bigger issue during campaign season.
  • For some reason I find it funny that this thread got moved to A Moving Train & out of AET :D

On a related note, did anyone watch the Colbert Report last night?

Number one threat of the year.... Bears! (of course)

Apparently Portland zoo workers had a little fun and filmed a bear gnawing on Colbert's new book. So, for retaliation, he made a smoothie out of bananas, berries, and a Berenstein Bears book. Where does he come up with this stuff. His wacky brilliance never ceases to amaze me. He is THE MAN.

The best was when the blender wouldn't work & he started cussing at it. I love this show to death but there's something magical about it when it DOESN'T go smoothly ;)

    "Stuff White People Like"

    #35 The Daily Show/Colbert Report
    January 28, 2008 by clander

The Daily Show/Colbert makes up a duo that is held in such high regard by white people that to criticize it would be the equivalent of setting the pope on fire in Italy in 1822. It just isn’t done, in fact it isn’t even considered!

White people love to make fun of politics, especially right wing politics. It’s a pretty easy target and makes for some decent humor, but white people are actually starting to believe that these two shows are becoming legitimate news sources.

“Oh, I don’t watch the news,” they will say. “I watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. You know, studies show that viewers of those shows are more educated than people who watch Fox News or CNN.”

White women all consider John Stewart to be the most perfect man on the planet. This is not a debate, it is law.

The Daily Show also features guests like John McCain, writers, policy analysts, and actors. It is comforting for white people to see boring celebrities get interviewed in a funny fashion. It fills their need to do something productive, but also not work that hard at it.

Take note that Tuesday through Friday during the working week, you can break ALL awkward silences with white people by saying “did you see the Daily Show/Colbert Report last night?” At which point they will start talking until it’s time for you to move on to more interesting activities.
Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?
