  • What a great film. David Mamet script. Pacino, Lemmon, Baldwin, Arkin, Spacey, Harris. what more could you want. One of the most underrated films of the past 25 years.

I actually like Alec Baldwin. As an actor and for the most part his opinions. I won't make assumptions about him as father or a husband. I know he called his daughter a pig, we all make mistakes. He has some interesting things to say in this clip:

Oh come on.. that was a pretty low blow!

First of all.. we have no idea what their marriage was like ~ so do not pass judgement on his husband abilities..

Secondly.. you are judging how he is as a father based on a voice message that never should have been released to the media.. a message that was indeed wrong and I do not condone what was said to his daughter, but I do not know one parent that has not said something in the moment of anger/frustration to their child that they wished they could take back.

His frustration was based on his inability to see and talk to his daughter.. something alot of divorced men go through because their ex-wives are such bitches and hold the child as hostage. I know.. I have known women who do this exact type of thing to their childrens father.

Alec Baldwin is a decent man.

Well said. Having gone through my own ordeals with my ex-wife and my children I can definitely sympathize with Baldwin and the frustration he must have been dealing with. I don't condone what he said to his daughter but I can definitely understand lashing out due to frustration.

Yea no offense to anyone but to say he's a bad husband and bad father is pretty ignorant and uninformed. That's why I think he was just kidding.

I don't really care about the bad husband part. That's the wife's issue to deal with, and she's an adult. If he had called her a bitch I wouldn't care, again that is her issue to deal with as an adult. But for a father to call his daughter a pig sort of removes him from the "decent" category in my eyes. I've never even had the thought, let alone verbalized it. It takes a certain type of person to call a daughter a pig.

Baldwin is a brilliant actor. As long as he's funny I don't care about anything else....

    and neither should you.

I find it priceless that you could have the arrogance to judge me for being judgemental about someone else. Add to that the arrogance that you should suggest what my morality should be. Well played.

I don't think any parent should verbally abuse their child, and call them pigs. I guess that's just me. As long as Alec can make someone laugh, fuck his daughter, right?

No his words where clearly out of line and unacceptable but until you have dealt with the frustration brought on by a custody situation with an ex, you can't possibly understand how easy it is to loose your composure. I'm not defending Baldwin's actions but he has made amends with his daughter and much of the situation was created by his ex-wife's not abiding by the custody agreement. Trust me having gone through what could be considered hell with my ex and our children I can definitely understand how easily a person can just explode because of the situation.

I was really just pointing out how lucky you are to not have to be judged in a public arena. I actually took a millisecond to wonder if your private life could withstand such scrutiny?

In other words don't you have anything better to do than be concerned as to how AB handles his personal affairs?

Oh, BTW Kim Bassinger is a real class act for wasting our time releasing that tape.

and GGGR is a fucking great movie.

I agree with you about Kim Bassinger. I just happen to lump Kim and Alec together.

As far as having anything better to do, my original post took fewer than 2 seconds to make, so it isn't like I had to prioritize Alec's personal affairs and bump other things to make room. I have plenty of better things to do, as I'm sure you do.

We can certainly learn what to do if you are ever a TV executive and one of your stars wants to get into dog fighting.

You're right. It was harsh. I think he was obviously upset with her, I guess he felt she was blowing him off. Parents shouldn't call their kids names or vice-versa. We all make mistakes. Although what he said was pretty bad, I gotta admit I did laugh at it quite a bit. Gotta try to find some kind of humor out of it.

how the hell do I get sucked into these dumb threads?

Under McCain you get a tax break that you can use to buy your own coffee...

but a year later you won't be able to buy it because all your coffee money will go to bail out failed banks because of all the bad deregulation he supported.

another thing he will probably blame on the evil monolith that is acorn and the evil poor that serve as their army.
