A Dog was beaten to death outside my window this morning. I heard something screaming at first and thought it was chickens or something. Looks like they were doing a routine killing of all stray dogs in the city. They battered it with sticks and then chucked it on the back of a van with a load of other dead dogs.
Pretty fucking disgusting.

It sucks what they do to dogs in other parts of the world but I guess the dogs in Baghdad had killed a bunch of people. So, what are you gonna do? Make it as humane as possible, I guess. :(

Sad to hear this Brynzie on the day Michael Vick pleads guilty in VA which somehow possibly allows him to return to the NFL early.

Yeah. I do really like it over here but sometimes I can't help but rage at these fuckers. They are so fucking backward when it comes to animals, and even human life - they have the 2nd highest traffic accident death toll in the world and yet they do NOTHING about it - that it makes you mad.

My friend once sent me a video which was filmed in China of a guy in a van hitting a cyclist on an intersection. Instead of stopping to help the cyclist the guy accelerates and drives over the cyclist and his bicycle most likely killing/seriously injuring him. Now the cyclist was going the wrong way but seriously.. driving over them isn't the way to teach them a lesson.

They do that a lot here. I know of two people who's Fathers have been run over and killed and the driver of the car drove away. The Father of someone I know was killed just over a week ago. The driver drove away but was later caught. He got given a fine, the equivalent of about $200,000.

Coincidentally, I just saw a totaled police motorbike in the road about 3 minutes ago outside my apartment building. I did laugh. The coppers were o.k but the bike was trashed. It's the 14th crash I've seen here in 8 months. Even the coppers here drive like idiots. I thought about taking a picture of the bike on my mobile phone but I figured that would probably give them the hump.

Edit: Shame I couldn't have seen the van with the dead dogs in get hit by a juggernaut and smashed to pieces along with the sick fucks inside it.
  • have you ever seen the Reznor PETA video? It is probably just what you are talking about.

    watch at your own discretion

I would like to beat the shit out of everyone of these people.
  • This makes me so angry... I can understand to some degree that the problem of strays needs to be addressed but cruelly beating the terrified animals to death is certainly not the answer.
I understand that different cultures treat animals in different ways but this is simply barbaric.
I'm really sorry you had to witness that Byrnzie :(

    I am disgusted!

Is there another way they can rid dogs from your area in a more humane way?

    Terrible. Poor things.

You'd think so wouldn't ya? Apparently in India they shoot the stray dogs in the street. You'd think they could manage at the very least to give them an injection instead.

Chinese kill 50,000 dogs ... WITH STICKS ... offer owners 63 cents a piece to kill the dogs themselves.

There is a photo of a dog being beaten ...
    in defense of the chinese,
    they are really BIG sticks.

If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
  • how sad. my guess is stray dogs are a problem over there (as well as Iraq) but they can at least be put down humanely.

I thought China was way better than the US in every way... shouldn't you be happy with how free people are from government interference in how they treat their animals? ;)

I don't get this. It's not ok to beat animals, but it's ok to beat people?

Anyway, sad story... and it sucks you had to witness that.

    disgusting.......

and not simply b/c it was *just* dogs, i would feel that way about ANY animal, or person. cruelty is always disgusting.

my husband would flip. for whatever reason ANY form of cruelty to a dog in particular, pushes him over the edge. he is a calm, thoughtful and peaceful person but i absolutely would be fearful of his actions if he ever witnessed someone harming a dog.

Read the book, Night Dogs, by Kent Anderson if you think that sort of thing doesn't happen here in the USA.

man, i would never want to....and i completely believe it DOES happen here, and probably worse. :( none the less, i DO believe it is far worse in asian countries b/c i do believe dogs are 'less valued' animals there. i think cruelty of all forms, to all creatures, is just wrong. and yes...i am aware of how we treat our animals for food is cruel. :(

They're strays. Apparently they have a problem with rabies here from time to time. All it takes is for one dog to have rabies and then it can spread. In one of the articles posted above on this thread it mentions how about 3000 people die of rabies every year in China.
The local authorities are such useless wankers that they can't manage to carry out proper preventative measures - inoculations e.t.c - so that killing the animals becomes unnecessary. It's a bit like how the traffic laws here are so pathetically lax and nobody does anything about it. The authorities over here - especially in the provinces and poorer, rural areas - are fucking useless idiots. Maybe they're just restricted financially. I don't know.

One thing that I find revealing is that people here generally don't give their pets names. How weird is that? I think it's because they view them as objects.

I don't understand how a country smart enough to limit it's human population cannot find better ways to control the animal population.

I've learned from this thread that I probably should never go to certain areas of the world. I am positive that in witnessing such acts, I would lose all pacivity and go on a rampage that would end in my own death. :o
