Are You Our Next National Organizer?

The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation is looking for a dynamic, articulate, creative, and passionate social justice advocate to work as a full-time National Organizer in its Washington, DC office.

The US Campaign is a national coalition of more than 250 organizations working to end U.S. support for Israel's military occupation and human rights abuses against Palestinians and change U.S. policy toward Israel/Palestine to support human rights, international law, and equality for all.

The National Organizer will be responsible for working with staff, Steering Committee, Advisory Board, and member organizations of the US Campaign to implement the US Campaign's main programmatic priorities in 2008, including:

A high-profile "anti-apartheid" speaking and organizing tour
Educational resources and days of action to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Nakba (Palestinian dispossession)
Corporate accountability campaigns against Motorola and Caterpillar for profiting from Israel's human rights abuses of Palestinians
The 7th Annual National Organizers' Conference and Grassroots Training Institute
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

A strong knowledge of Palestine/Israel and U.S. policy toward it
Experience in designing and implementing grassroots campaigns for social change
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Be willing to travel within the United States on average once a month
Work well with others and be able to juggle multiple responsibilities
Have basic computer literacy, including Word applications and Excel
Candidates for the position who have experience with graphic design and/or digital video editing should indicate this on their resume. Candidates with foreign language skills, especially Arabic, Hebrew, or Spanish should also indicate this on their resume.

The successful candidate will be hired for a one-year, renewable contract with a starting salary of $30,000-$35,000 based on experience, plus excellent benefits, including 15 paid vacation days, 10 paid sick days, 10 paid federal holidays, and a generous health care and life insurance subsidy.

In addition to being willing to travel for work, the National Organizer must be willing to work certain evenings and weekends. The National Organizer is expected to work 40 hours per week with comp time accrued for any additional hours worked.

The US Campaign is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages applications from people of color, women, and LGBTQ people.

To apply for the position, send a one-page resume and one-page essay describing why you are the ideal person for this position to office@endtheoccupation.org. No phone calls please.
