"Shove it up your ****........"

I Just saw this comment on Youtube under Ed's song 'Here's to the State of George W'. It's just another example of the kind of shit we're up against in the world. It also reminds me of the kind of venom people spew in defence of Iraq & the Israel/Palestine issue. I posted a comment on a pro-Israel page on Facebook the other day and the level of hate spat my way was a real fucking eye-opener. (I still ruffled those fuckers' feathers though. ;) ) I was banned for a few hours from Facebook at the same time that I was still banned from the message pit. (I felt like I'd been cast adrift! He he!)

Here's what this jackass had to say in full:

flyhoc
"Tomas should quit fucking crying. Theres thousands of wounded just like him who insist that we finish the fucking job. Shove it up your ass Vedder, you just wanted an excuse to jump the anti-war bandwagon."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIKdh56p8A4&feature=related

I just feel that this kind of attitude is unfortunately all too common these days, and it would be interesting to read what people's thoughts on it are??

My response on Youtube:

'flyhoc - what exactly do you mean by 'finish the fucking job'? Do you mean the job of fucking over a defenceless country? In my opinion the only job that needs finishing - just like in the Occupied territories - is that you get the fuck out.'

I don't think people want to be bothered with feeling like they have to care.

How will they have the energy to keep up with, say, the fictional Meredith and McDreamy?

    They're getting feeling fatigue, ya?

Iraq is old news. A new president is going to come in and save the day, so why waste our time worrying our pretty little heads about something that'll be over and done with in like 24 months.

That said, it's hard to feel like any anti-war song is sung genuinely by any artist who supports either of the main stream candidates.

The Iraq war will never be over for all those soldiers maimed in the conflict, and won't ever be over for all the families of those same people and of those who sacrificed their lives for that bullshit war.

Not to mention the over 1 million Iraqi's that the U.S and it's poodle helped to snuff out.

Which is exactly why Bush et al should be officially be cast as a War Criminals.

I wonder if Ed Vedder will ever become disenchanted with politics/war and throw it all to the wind - somewhat like Bob Dylan did. I wonder if he'll one day veer off in another direction?
  • You see the problem is many (many) people don;t want to have their eyes opened to 9/11 the war , political corruption etc... because then they feel they must do something about it, and feel varying pangs of guilt if they don;t, and it accumulates on the conscious.

This is why people get combative and angry when they hear things outside4 the glass bubble of comfort.

Everyone likes the snooze button, when the alarm clock is screaming wake up. So they exhibit spite, malice and anger.

Those are just the good people. Then you have the ones that relish the dark side and do it out of spite.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Are you talking about people who think that talking to radicals will bring peace? Are you talking about people who ignore any good things that soldiers are saying about helping people in Iraq and just listening to the negative comments of soldiers their favorite singer likes? Are you talking about people who live on YouTube and listen to their I-Phones while contributing nothing to society other than their anger because they keep hitting the snooze button?

You think we should simply ignore them and keep fighting more wars? They want to be heard, obviously, maybe we should hear what they have to say?

I think he means people who choose to ignore FACTS and try to make themselves feel better about reading all the "good things" we're doing in Iraq like "helping" the people in Iraq (while killing 1 million of their population, and causing more to become refugess), so that they won't have to actually get up and do something about it (other than vote for Obama)...

    Strange.

    Anyway, I think it's a great song.

What I find interesting is that there are clearly many people on this message board who agree with the Youtube fella's sentiments re: "shove it up your ass vedder".

We really do live in a fucked-up world.

Also, I wonder if my original post on this thread will win an award for including the most amount of 'fucks' and 'fucking's' on the messge pit?

I oppose the Iraq war (if you can really call it that at this point) and all wars, but I just think the whiny, short-sighted, immediate way that most of the anti-war crowd go about complaining about it is pretty pathetic.

I want the troops home as much as anyone, but if pulling them out suddenly at this point would cause chaos and many, many, many Iraqi deaths, then they should be there until they can resurrect some self-sufficient stability.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

I seems to be widely recognized that America's presence in Iraq is serving only to fuel the violence.

what's so strange about it? both of those songs blow, at least the pearl jam covers do. i've never heard the originals. but here's to the state is so ham-handed and know your rights just sounds like a lame unrhythmic punk song with ed's vocals being absurd. they can do better. gimme some truth, masters of war, fortunate son... those all do the job very well.

Fair enough. I'm not such a fan of 'Know your rights', but I really do like 'Here's to the State..'

Funny how the tribes now fighting alongside the Americans are called 'freedom fighters' when previously - when they were fighting the Americans - they were called 'insurgents', or 'terrorists'.

You should all be thankful as Americans.Say this bullshit over there they would put a bullet in your head.War is war ,people die(d)so we can have the right to spew bullshit.Pelosi bitch is more concerned with bringing a motion to impeach Bush than taking care of the people that put her there. She's more treasoness than Bush could ever be.The only way Obama wins if the young fuckers get off there ass and vote.Since there mommy's & daddy's can't go pull the lever for them he doesn't have a chance. If per chance he does win, whose fault will it be when things get worse?

G.I. Joe were "Freedom Fighters" ... They don't really exist in the real world, I am afraid.

Man this place has gone to the shitter...that was disgusting.

I don't like the song (or Know your rights for that matter) but like someone else said, Gimme Some Truth, etc are all good songs.

Anyone that would tell a guy in a wheelchair and was in a coma while fighting for his country to "quit $#^%$#^ crying" is just a jackass.
