There is a x pages long thread about global warming already, whats the point starting the same discussion in a new thread?

Oh btw the disappearing part, does it involve magic? I love magic!
    your light's reflected now

... secondly, like i said above, climate change will cause more extreme weather events, like what is happening now in europe - is this particular storm directly caused by greenhouse gases? - can't say for sure but when you look at the bigger picture, there is definitely a pattern of cause and effect
And climate change was also behind the relative hurrican free season on the east coast in 2006. The lack of huricanes saved millions of dollars and most likely a few lives.

Global warming is a misnomer. It should correctly be referred to as global climate change. Humans affect global climate change primarily through the greenhouse effect. It is unknown how much of an impact that the greenhouse effect has on global climate change.

either theory is unproven, the earth has gone through so many climate shifts before humans even walked the earth...i dont believe we are causeing much of a shift.

Think about all the gases that are relesed naturally through volcanic eruptions and such

I think you misunderstand the term "theory". In science a theory is as pretty much a given. There has been loads of evidence and scientific inquiry that agrees that the initial hypothesis holds.

Yes, the world has gone through many climate shifts before. No one is disputing this, the differnce is that there has never been a species on this earth that has the ability and the record to disturb the environment to the extent as humans. Not even close. Never before has this amount of greenhouse gasses through the actions of a species before.

Although volcanic and geological events do in fact release greenhouse gasses, the majority of gasses released is nothing more than water vapour. There are spikes in the temperature record that do account for major geological events, but compared to the accumulated amount of human produced green house gasses, they do not alter the atmsopheric composition in anywhere near the same amount as humans.

Lastly, do you disagree with the greenhouse effect and greenhouse gasses or do you think that is a load of hot air too? Excuse the pun :)

Climate change is a better term. Global temperatures are rising but each area of the world may be effected differently. Some drier, some wetter, some warmer, some cooler, but the global average will and is rising. Lastly, climate change will result in more extreme weather. Extreme cold and storms are consistent with climate change.
