Does anybody else here feel this way?

I hate waste. I hate it very much. I hate seeing trees chopped down for somebody's entertainment (i.e., making a raft so they can float on a lake, when they already have a plastic raft). I hate deer hunting. I hate killing animals for food when it isn't necessary. I mean, come on, America does not need to slaughter all of the animals they kill for food! And that "well, animals were overpopulate the country" doesn't work, because the animals are bread to be killed. I just hate it. I hate the unnecessary deaths.
I hate eating meat, I have never had a taste for it and every time I have eaten it, I think of the poor animal and lose my appetite. Is anybody else like this? Am I a weirdo?
(my family loves meat, and I have one sister who wants to try lamb, rabbit, goat, goose, duck...bleh, the savage)
I am not against using wood, I just hate to see it wasted, because trees are so beautiful and were I live there are not very many.

When life gives you lemons, throw them at somebody.

as ron white says, i didnt crawl to the top of the food chain to eat fucking lettuce. however, i can understand why it bothers people and completely respect their desire not to eat it.
I really dislike the thought of the poor murdered cows. Their bodies savagely severed from their heads (or vice versa, depends on your perception) ... and their internal organs removed and ground in to hot dogs, while their muscle is torn from the bone and chopped in to strip steaks, flank steaks, skirt stakes, top round, bottom round, t-bones, center cut fillets, porterhouses, tender loins, shoulder, and of course, the ubiquitous ground chuck ...
BUT
I FUCKING LOVE A GOOD BLOODY ASS HAMBURGER ... particularly with blue cheese and a nice smoked applewood bacon ...
???
Shit,
am i a savage?
If I opened it now would you not understand?
The Aurochs no longer exist, so all we have are domesticated cows which depend on us for survival. We've been farming these creatures for so long that they could not survive without the farm environment.
Also, farming keeps this stuff alive as its important to us.
The rib meat of a young, strapping soldier is to die for.
But then again, journalist meat is even tastier....it has a lot more fat on it.
Mind if I cut down a tree and build a fire to roast some Marines on?
and think of how much loose leaf paper is used to just to be balled up and thrown...or in the end that is what happens, anyway....
ppl like rush limbaugh claim there are more trees now than when colombus landed
there's this side road i take to the highway on my way to work, it was a real pretty windy stretch of woods w/ a few houses here and there....now large sections have been cleared out :(

exactly, aren't we all supposed tobe god's creations? we could live in balance but it seems we just want to tear down everything and build a strip mall or fast food place or check advance place....

Edit: There, they're, their....
But I'm not a dude, I'm a woman
What I am getting at is that nature obviously dictates that some species will kill others for food. Therefore us eating meat is a natural concept in my mind.
HOWEVER I hate the fact that we do waste so much...as compared to Native Americans and buffalo (used every part for something from food to clothes to tools etc.) That is something that bothers me...however eating meat does not because I think it is natural.
i like to eat meat every now and again. i also sympathise with your thread.
i think more people like you should be in power.
we share the same basic beliefs but differently. when people started buying food at the grocery; hunting dropped considerably. in fact; in 1941 or 42; the illinois game and fish reported the states population for deer at 2. we killed the preditors and took away habitat and they over populated and died out. we had 2 choices; either we hire government hit-men to reduce the population or we let hunters pay us to make good use of the animals.
as far as veggies are concerned; as a farmer i can tell you that the ground has to be prepared 3 times minimum prior to planting. so a big diesel tractor passes that field polluting the air 3 times; then planting making 4; cultivating between the rows at least 2 times; then we have spraying adding another 2 times; then harvesting adding another. years ago when prople grew their own food that wasn't the case. animals won't over populate the country. i don't know where you heard that. they will starve and become extinct. except of course insects and rodents that feed off our waste.
one grass fed cow causes less waste than a dozen carrots. the animal roams freely controlling the natural grasses. the only time energy is used is to truck them to the packing house then again to the markets.
i'm beginning to rant so i'll stop; but i think i got the point accross.
i'm a big enviornmentalist and i've got to ask:
you talked about using a plastic raft; but plastics are made from oil. wood is renewable and organic. it's decay replenishes the soil. what would you like to see used?
bamboo?....not answering for her isn't bamboo an environmentally safe wood?....can you make a canoe out of bamboo?
Bamboo is considered a pest in some places here cb.
Think fb's point was she doesn't like to see people wasting trees for their amusement and I'd have to agree with that.
Just as I agree that OLS is right about plastic/rubber rafts being petroleum products and therefore worse for the environment than a tree raft.
Just hope I never need a raft!!

but i think that's the point.....bamboo is readily available and is a strong wood...i could be wrong.....:)
True, but I think cutting it would probably only spread it further. Least that's what seems to happen with it when we've played with it here!
But yeah, it would be handy for a raft if it was available. Supposing I needed one.

I agree with genie here; Forrest, you should lead the way for the rest of us! And you are not weird, you're just happen to be much more socially responsible than the rest of the world.
One day in May I walked outside and a ton of trees were cut down because they were going to fix a railroad bridge. Every morning it was so nice to hear the bird songs then one day just gone. Bastards - wonder how many nests had been prepared for babies and how many birds lost their homes. They could have worked around soem of them instead of chopping every single one down.
do you have those car title places yet? i

i see. it just struck me as odd. now i understand. if we would've planted 2 trees for every tree cut; we wouldn't have global warming. and that's the biggest waste.
how does my change make any difference? why are lions allowed to and we're not?
if we're splitting hairs; the bible actually says man shall have domain over the beasts of the land and fishes of the sea.
Do you see this often?
if you notice; we eat herbivores. the animals eat the plants and we get nutrition from that. between the plants and protien from the meat; it's a healthy balance.
