1) It was the national anthem, not the pledge of allegiance there fool.
2) With that singing, I would have probably put my hands over my ears instead of my heart.
3) I can't remember the last time I put my hand over my heart when standing for the national anthem. You act like he was sitting down talking to someone what it was being sung.
We get it Spin, you don't like the guy and wouldn't vote for him if he was the only candidate running. At least act like an adult and bring up current events or relevant things.
Regardless, the whole Pledge thing is overblown. There are a lot of good people who don't say it for many reasons, among them religious reasons--in fact, primarily religious reasons, if you leave out the "I'm too lazy to say it" reason. If you've ever watched a high school classroom, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone with their hand over their heart saying the Pledge, on top of it, making the outrage over not saying it highly hypocritical. Of course, it's not really young people that make the most hay out of the Pledge recital. I typically recite the Pledge, but leave out the part of "one nation, under God," since I don't believe that part. Call me an agnostic--'cuz I am. But, I'm not really a liar. So, anyway. I get to watch people say and not say the Pledge on a daily basis in my job. It's not exactly a huge deal to see another American making a choice unique to them over it. Good Americans all over the place can choose to say it or not and not have it actually indicate anything about how good of a citizen or person they are.
joe, Obama has no chance of winning. He has no experience, no policy, raised in an anti-white church, etc. etc.
Hehehehe. I wondered how long you could keep this up before the racism started. White power!
I'm sure once Obama is elected you'll complain about "those people" stealing white people's jobs.
And whoever posted the Bush pick putting his hand over his gut, thank you. I'll have to use that one next time someone brings up this stupid pointless shit.
You know, sometimes I wish some people would just flip a coin to figure out who they were going to vote for, it would make more sense than some of the parameters people set to determine whether or not they would vote for someone.
SpinBret...
Dude.. I take it you have NEVER been to a sporting event. There are people who don't remove their hats... who order over priced beers... squirt mustard on their hot dogs... and piss in very stinky restrooms during the National Anthem. Do you question THEIR patriotism, too?
If you believe patriotism comes from bullshit gestures and salutes... you are missing the boat... completely.
...
If you are going to criticize Obama... criticize him on his contradictory voting record or the fact that he says a lot... but you really don't get a clear picture of his goals. Something related to politics.
Going after these types of cheap swift boat shots makes you appear... well... for lack of a better phrase, like a moron who knows nothing of politics except for what he sees on the cable networks or hears on Talk Radio.

All good points. And you know what? I actually think the pledge of allegiance is bullcrap. I'm sure the Nazi's made their citizens pledge "allegiance" as well. We're lucky we have the opportunity to do or not do ridiculous social customs in this country as we see fit. Obama could take a dump on the flag as far as I'm concerned and I couldn't give a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut, to quote a great man.

The way I see it is that no one hates this country more than GW Bush. In order to send thousands of brave US soldiers off to their deaths so he could be remembered as a war president while lining the pockets of the rich with even more money, he would have to truly hate America with every bone in his body.

I can say I've never put my hand over my heart during the national anthem. Neither does the rest of my family, or any of my friends that I have gone to events where the national anthem was played. We stand at attention but we do not place our hands on our hearts. I guess that makes a lot of western Pennsylvania anti-American.
Btw it seems to be a generational thing in this area, the older citizens do it the younger ones do not. Just take your damn hat off, now that would piss me off.

look at the bigger picture.....you are comparing a drunk pissing at a ballgame to a senator trying to become president. Apples and oranges.
You're talking about flag pins and hands over hearts and then have the nerve to say "Look at the big picture?" Are you shitting me? You can't be for real. Or else your sense of irony is severely lacking.
I listen to a couple "Star Spangled Banners" a week because of my job. I stand up, look towards the flag, and keep my hands clasped either in front of me or behind my back. Does that mean I hate America? No, it doesn't.

No. I'm comparing the posture of one American to another. Are both, the guy that happens to be taking a leak... and not drunk at all... in the restroom at the Dodgers Game and Barack Obama unpatriotic America haters because they are not saluting the flag in the manner you expect them to?
And what about the person who took the video? Shouldn't they have been facing the Flag... instead of running their digital recorder?

So are you going to answer my question about how the flag is not to be on articles of clothing?

I really think the mods need to check some i.p addresses around here. I think they'll find a few duplicates. That's all.

Given the 50/50 partisan nature of most people's politics, that's basically how they do vote today.
