Let's try this again.

Discuss.

I don't know much about this dude and I can't say that I think he is actually a rapist. As you all know, I have my sympathy for rapists, but I don't think they should be leading countries.

Well, you could give your opinion on it. Truthfully there isn't any point in discussing anything of politics on Pearl Jam's forum. So then, why are we all here except to give our opinions?

Isn't it best to always here the accused side of the story before commenting?

He says he's innocent. That's about it.

You again, fuck, this forum is a joke..

You just keep trying to fuck shit up don't you?

Well, go ahead, no one cares about this news anyway, it would have to be the Pres. of Iran or Syria for it to matter at all.

I got you all wrong. I guess when you were accusing me of being a rapist lover, you were giving me a compliment.

I said that you don't care if a countries leader is a rapist or murderer.

I understand that rapists and murderers have serious mental problems, or experience circumstances that pushed them over that line. But I will be highly critical of any nation's leader that is accused of such acts. Or in the case of Bush, a leader that commits mass murder.

I guess you have already made up your mind. This is a horrible thread. Is this meant as a personal attack because he happens to be an Israeli? I've noticed you have started and contributed to many anti-Israel threads here? Do you just have a problem with Israel? If so, say it. Why the need to start back handed threads about one man? Further, don't we believe in the presumption of innocence here in the civillized world??

This isn't an anti-Israel thread. I was pointing out that it's not a popular topic. Mainly because people like you come in here and label anyone you can anti-semitic. This is actually the first post about Israel since before Jan '07 when you joined. So who might you be instead of who you say you are? And why did you alter your identity? People didn't like you much before? Maybe you got banned. Or were you hired to come on here and label people anti-semitic by the ADL?

Damn I saw someone write here a few weeks ago with the same debatting techniques, accusing anyone disagreeing with him of being antisemite to get his point accross.

You actually have a point. But he has immunity till he finishes his term. I wouldn't want to learn, after term, that my president was lying rapist (mine is a lying thief and it bothers me less). I think he should give up his immunity and face the charges after all he claims to be innocent. So at least if he is cleared he will have been the bigger man.

Thanks for posting a relative comment on the topic. I think if he is in the habit of raping women he should get that sorted out immediately. Those kinds of accusations can be false, but are severe none-the-less. His career shouldn't be jeopardized if the accusations are false, but I think a trial should commence immediately. I'm shocked that this isn't a bigger concern to people and was hidden within the media. Personally I don't feel that he should go to jail, but she definitely have therapy and should definitely step-down as president.

    Israel's Katsav faces rape charge

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/6291345.stm

Katsav's lawyers have said he will resign if charged
Israel's ministry of justice says it plans to charge the country's largely ceremonial head of state, Moshe Katsav, with rape and abuse of power.
Formal charges against him can be made only after a hearing at which he will be allowed to present his case.

Mr Katsav denies allegations of rape and sexual misconduct made by several female employees in recent months.

The recommendation to indict him comes amid a flurry of corruption allegations against top-level Israeli politicians.

Mr Katsav's lawyers said he was innocent and charges would be dropped after the attorney general heard Mr Katsav's side of the story.

"The president believes that everyone will see that he is the victim of false charges," David Libai said, adding that the president would hold a news conference on Wednesday.

The president enjoys immunity, but he can be impeached or prosecuted after he leaves office.

Mr Katsav's seven-year term ends this year, but his lawyers have previously indicated he might resign if he was indicted.

Attorney General Menachem Mazuz's office issued a statement saying there was enough evidence to support an indictment against Mr Katsav on charges of rape, harassment, abuse of power and obstruction of justice, among other crimes.

Iranian-born Mr Katsav, 60, was a journalist before standing for parliament as a candidate for the right-wing Likud party in 1977.

He acted as power broker within the party and rose to ministerial positions.

The office is invested with great dignity and prestige in the Israeli political system, but powers are limited. They include pardoning prisoners.

Several MPs have called on Mr Katsav to resign immediately to avoid bringing the office into disrepute.

He was the first member of a right-wing political party to become Israeli president, beating off the challenge of Labour veteran Shimon Peres in 2000.

Mr Katsav's predecessor, Ezer Weizman, left office early in controversial circumstances after the attorney general found he had accepted improper gifts. He was never charged with any crime.

Any stories surfacing that the guy is cut or not?

I can't for the life of me believe that somebody would abuse the power that they have somehow gotten in life. And then deny that it all has happened. Seems like a reoccuring theme line from all points on the globe.
You've changed your place in this world!

With all the barbaric rulers in the world why you would selectively choose this articles to post on here if you did not have an obvious agenda. If the man committed rape he should get a fair trial like anyone else. But YOU turned it into something about Israel, as you always do. Scroll above if you don't believe me. I never said anti-semite. I just noticed a distinct pattern in your points and am wondering why you spend so much time addressing negative posts about Israel and Israeli politicians. Maybe you were paid by Hamas to be here. Who knows?

this story has been in the news in israel for the past half year. it's a domestic issue. katsav said months ago that if he were ever formally indicted, he would step down. he was formally indicted this morning, and a few minutes ago he just finished his farewell address.

watching you spin this simple matter into yet another way to tarnish all of israel has been, for lack of a better word, entertaining.

You and LE are fucking jokes!

When it's the US president it speaks for America. This has been going on for past half-year and we haven't heard anything about it on this board? That's exactly what I mean. I think you and LE speak mounds about how clean and polished you wish Israel was, but obviously is not.

You both spout anti-Israel statements that aren't warranted. You do it so that people will not criticize Israel. But you won't thwart me with your childish accusations. I at least have the maturity to acknowledge that my government is corrupt.

"He turned out to be a strong man, raped 10 women," the Russian president was quoted by Russian media as saying at a meeting in Moscow with Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert. "I never would have expected it of him. He has surprised us all, we all envy him!"

Who cares if he was born in Iran or Atlantis? His actions don't speak for Israel, they certainly don't speak for Iran. Are you implying that Iranians are genetically inclined to be criminals? That would be typical stupidity for this board.
