I'm thinking of going to a show in Chicago but I don't have a passport. Does anyone know how long the wait is? I live in Canada.

Thanks. Haha, you probably won't like it Jlew.

It's called "Manifest Destiny Tour" I believe. Details are a bit shady still. It's a performance by Optimus Rhyme and MC Frontalot

    http://www.optimusrhyme.com http://www.frontalot.com

Both artists are self-labelled Nerdcore Hip-Hop.

However, Frontalot or Damien Hess has a degree in digital music or something and Andy Hartpence (the lyricist for Optimus) has a BA in English, amazing lyricist.

I'm not so sure that is the kind of passport I'm looking for Jlew, thanks ofr the link though.

Currently with Passport Canada, you can use an epass to complete the Passport on-line application form.

Epass is a new service that uses the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). This gives Canadians the ability to obtain state-of-the-art secure electronic services from any Internet terminal in the world, using the convenience of a user ID and password. When registering for an epass, you get a unique electronic credential that gives you access to on-line programs and services that require enhanced security measures, including digital signatures.

As more Government of Canada programs and services become available on-line, it will be possible for you to choose to use one epass to access multiple programs and services, or you may choose to obtain and use a different epass for each program or service. You will be able to select the option that best suits your needs.

Well, I'm not sure if I'm going yet. It's 6 1/2 hours away and I heard the passport takes 2 - 3 months. The show is in April.

All I know so far is what Andy has told me. It's in April, in Chicago and on their website it says something about Frontalot touring with them. But I don't know a venue or even a date yet :(

Ha, well I found this on Passport Canada

For Canadians travelling from Canada to the United States: Since January 23, 2007, a new American law requires everyone entering the United States BY AIR to have a valid passport. Canadians can continue to use such documents as their birth certificates and drivers' licence to cross the Canada-U.S. border BY LAND AND SEA for at least another year.

I was planning on driving there.

for now...i do believe in time they are strongly considering making them mandatory for corssing country boarders no matter what. i do believe i've also read that it's being considered needing a passport even for domestic flights? can't remember where i read it......but i thought, hmmmmm, interesting.

me, i am on my thrid passport, got my first one at age 13 i think, and underage US passports are only good for 5 years a clip.

glad you got your answers anihmus, i was surpirsed to read the question honestly as you seem quite adept at internet research, figured such would be an easy question for you to find an answer.

enjoy your trip and concert! :)

I remember all the people here last year during the tour who were asking about crossing the border from/to Canada.

I could just pucture the conversation at the border:

In the voice of Jimbo from the Simpsons: "But the dude on the pearl jam message board said I would be able to cross!"

(no disrespect to anyone, but even though people mean well, I would always want corraborating information from a government office).

I have been holding of thinking that canada might do something similar to to the US or at least make passports 10 years.
