Ha, I had never really checked this out before.

So they take 1 part of their active ingredient and dilute it to 30X or so, which translates into 1/1000000000000000000000000000000

If you think that works, I've got some tap water to sell you. ;)
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

Like many such alternative treatments, they actually do work for some. Why it works somewhat may be a combination of a placebo-effect, and the mental comfort of being taken care of and a belief that it will work. The mind should not be underestimated when it comes to healing.

That said, I will still be going to my doctor if something ails me. That's where I believe I will be taken care of.

    Peace

Depends on the potency of the tincture. If it's extremely concentrated, then diluting it is gonna reduce it down to a safe dose? How does a one part in 30 translate to 1/10000000000000000000000000000000000? Did you know that a large number of prescription drugs have their active ingredients derived from plants? I'm no homeopath though, but hey, if it works for people, where's the harm?

By the way, I've been in pubs before that serve bourbon and coke that tastes like it's been diluted one part in 30........ and I still got pissed!
  • you've obviously never tried Bach Flower Essence.

works every time. and if you think its just placebo - then why does it work on your pets aswell?

If correct comparative studies were done with homeopathy there would at least be some facts on wether it does work. It does seem to work for some people though, so why not? Even if it's a placebo effect, if it helps them feel better, why not?
