A jeep/car(not sure) was driven into Glasgow airport where it exploded.I can only assume that it's not a coincidence that it happened just after the London carbomb attempts at the weekend,I could be wrong though.

initial reports are often wrong, but I agree.... too many coincidences here to dismiss this as an accident.

I hope everyone who was there got out OK.

First eyewitness reports seem to indicate that two Asian males attempted to drive a Jeep Cherokee into the automatic doors of terminal one of Glasgow Airport. One of the occupants of the jeep poured petrol over himself and the inside of the vehicle. The jeep exploded, and this occupant (possibly the driver) ran out, on fire/or was pulled out of the vehicle, in flames, by police. He was speaking "gibberish" and seemed "disorientated", but "strong". Other reports suggest he was knocked to the ground by bystanders, before being subdued by airport police/security.

The airport's been closed for now, and flights are suspended.

Eyewitnesses didn't see anyone wounded, bar the two males.

  • God this is so shocking. How can anyone fight/prevent this?

I was thinking that, too. We should have a show: "Britain's Dumbest Terrorists."

did you notice that no-one tried to stop the car-bombers fleeing their cars in London... try and stop a Scotsman gan on his holiday and he'll fucking do you... whether on fire or not :D

i'm proud that after our one and only ever terrorist attack on our soil, we've got the airport back open and running, we've apprehended the nutjobs still alive, so we can gather more evidence... and the reaction of the people in the airport is inspiring!! all joking aside it takes bravery and courage to try and attack a man on fire who is holding a gas canister!!

imagine if the terrorists had tried to blow up the Buckie factory.... holy fuck then it'd be scary :D

Wait until someone tries to stop a running terrorist who blows HIMSELF up. Won't do that again in a hurry!

It's all good and well being proud of your fellow man, but please don't imply people in London are wusses. We've had people blow themselves up on the underground and on busses, we've had people leaving cars with bombs in them. It's nervewracking. I am desperately trying to be vigilant without being prejudiced and tackling random people who have just parked a car would be the latter rather than the former ;)

i was joking.. i said so in my post.

I thought you meant the joke about the Scots and their holidays ;)

I guess I'm just high-strung. Had to walk to work this morning, as the Bakerloo line was suspended (faulty communications equipment, whatever that (really) means) and I walked past 3 or 4 cars that had been parked in odd places. It's enough to make you paranoid. And touchy ;)

understandable... but by creating panic they win, by creating fear they are succeeding in their goals.

and being vigilant can only be a good thing. :)

You'll never terrorise someone eating a deep fat fried Mars bar. They're a walking toilet bomb as it is. ;)
