"In your case, I'll check my brain at the door and we'll start even, okay?"
Have you thanked a taper today?
I think mike would never part with this guitar.. Anyway my choice would be eventually between benaroya vinyl, sealed of course, and the freak promo.. tough choice, but i will take benaroya, thanks. I don't care much for reeenk or vs colombia blue vinyl, these go for at least $2000, though it would be cool to have both.

what do you want to do with him? Putting him on a shelf, sealed like a rare vinyl, and religiously watching and praying to him every night before go to sleep?

i know its not that outrageous but i lived on maui for 5 years and it has a very special place in my heart....
so who out there wants to make my dream come true....at least its realistic....
Won't let the darkness swallow me.
Haven't figured out how in the world i could make that reality, but seems more realistic than Mike's guitar...
I would then stop collecting all PJ gear and be happy.
Other than that, for me it would be between a 96 Charlotte Poster (or 98 South Pacific poster IF it exists) and the 95 Soldier Field Vinyl
that's all.

Damnit, that didnt take long. I was totally hoping I would be the first person to say that. Cause that is what I would want and nobody, ever ever ever would be allowed to touch it.
A front row story.
My ex-gf and I saw them front row in St. Louis on the VFC tour and Ed handed the bottle to the girl standing next to my girl. We we were a little upset about it. The guy next to me got Eds arm band and started crying, lol. A little weird but I feel him I guess. Mike did throw me a pick though. Like threw it to me, he missed the first time and saw that I couldnt find it so he tossed me two more. I gave the extra one to the cry baby who got the arm band . We saw the chick with the wine bottle in the parking lot after the show. We jokingly talked about ganking her.
GREAT story . . . GREAT mental pics . . . that made me laugh my ass off!!! Thanks

so would the wine .... but ...
all that would sit gathering dust, because i wouldnt wear them (they wouldnt fit anyway) or drink it ...
so - id really like the rare experience of sitting for the afternoon, after a bit of recording or songwriting perhaps, sharing a drink and a bbq, having just a laid back chat with all the guys ... and maybe getting a happy little snap when we were all a bit pissed and smiling like cheshire cats
If it has to be a material posession...Soldier Field vinyl.

I'd love to spend a day with the band or even one or two of them, hanging out. I'd love to sit and talk politics, music, life, etc... To spend a few hours in a studio and just jam and talk gear, touring and about being musicians. I'd love to get to know what makes these guys tick, what drives them and what makes them do what they do. More than any piece of memorabilia, having the opportunity to hang out with and get to know a little bit of some people that admire would mean more than any piece of memorabilia
As fans, it's so easy to want a piece of them, be it some rare vinyl, a poster, an autograph, a personal possession, or anything else material. It's natural, it gives a sense of belonging, a sense of "I have it", an even more commonly, "I have it, and you don't". These sorts of things really just give us a connection to what they do, and not to who they are (in most cases). While I'm as guilty as anyone else here of collecting copious amounts of memorabilia of my favorite band, things of this nature would pale in comparison to a true real life experience.
These guys are just people, just like everyone else. They're ordinary people, put in an extraordinary situation, and have been able to accomplish extraordinary things. It's very easy to objectify them. Would having Mike's guitar, or Eddies jacket, the Batwings, or even things as simple as a copy of a rare record or poster really be all that significant? Sure, you'd have something that means a great deal to it's owner, or a rare collector's piece, but what else?
In all truth, we as fans already have the best gift they could give us, and that's their music. So easily events could have played out differently that Pearl Jam could have never happened. Lucky for us, it did happen, and great things have come of it. An artists work is a reflection of who they are, and to share that with the masses is truly an amazing thing.
I'm rambling, so I'll get back on point. If I were ever lucky enough to be in a situation as I described, I guess the only material thing that I'd care to take away from it would be a simple photograph of everyone involved. Signed or not, it wouldn't matter (although, that *would* be pretty cool). Perhaps even a simple recording or either music or discussion. Something really only to prove to myself that it really happened.
Aside from all that, I'd love really to just meet the guys for five minutes, shake their hands and thank them for doing what they do.
