    Because this is America... a land where people are too insecure to see a minority in a leadership position, despite his qualifications.

    It may be because he was never placed under the same microscope as anyone else running for President over the past two years.

    b/c now it's no longer about fluff and making people feel good, it's now about leading the country...i hope he does a good job. People i think voted for him b/c they were sick of how the country was being run and decided to give this guy a chance. Everything he does from now on will be covered to the nth degree b/c of 24 hour news stations, blogs, and etc... He's new and he's not a fixture in washington as mccain or even the clintons were. He ran on change, now people will see just exactly what change he had in mind.

  • How was he not given the same chance as everyone else?
    The guy just won the White House, of course he is going to be scrutinized.

    actually no I am fine, I never thought McCain stood a chance to begin with. He is the President and deserves to be under a microscope. That is the beauty of the country we live in.

  • I'm guessing it has something to do with the whole "leader of the free world" thing he's got going on.

    Anyone winning the job of the highest executive office in the land is under intense scrutiny. Now unlike anytime before because of the world wide web and people having opportunities to voice thier opinion not to mention an incredibly far reaching media. The ability to handle intense pressure is part of the job.

    Honestly if anything all our politicians should be under intense scrutiny. That's a good thing. Keeps them focused and in check.

    Experience in office is overrated. His team ran a great campaign and they raised something like 600 Million dollars. I'd say he's going to get briefed on everything he needs before he takes the oath. I think I guess the question is can he make the right decisive decision consistantly but that's a question of every president. Experience is the most overrated aspect of any politician in fact it could be viewed as a negative. I'd rather examine the ability to critically think.

    you also have to take into acount that even though 50 million people voted for him, 47 or so million people voted for someone else, he brought up this fact in his speech to his credit. Disagreement is normal and common.

    Here is my (hopefully) unbiased opinion:

    * Relatively new to the political scene (versus Bush / Clinton)
    * New President Elect
    * Internet / Blogs / Global News Wires
    * Sour Grapes from conservatives
    * Scary / Negative news sells better the happy / positive news
    * Talk Radio
    * Unclear policies (my opinion - don't freak out on me)

    World communication and technology has increased ten-fold in just the last four years. It should be interesting to see how the next six months unfold.

    Get used to this. Any criticism of a Presidential action over the next four years will be considered racist.

    really well stated and agree on all counts.
    bottomline, as mentioned...it simply comes with the job. i don't think he's being anymore scrutinized than any other president elect.
