because I know I do. Just another year of bullshit politicians making bullshit promises, this is why I don't vote.

but Nader/Gonzalez is a rather appealing choice outside the 2 party plutocracy.

But there are more canidates than those three. ^^
Such as the ones mentioned by the young lady above me ^^
Just follow the arrows.
And you will go the rest of your life not voting. You will never get your ideal candidate so you might as vote for the best of what is offered. My ideal candidate will never be elected. Hell, my ideal candidate will probably never take any office in America.
Get over your idealism because in America you will never get what you want because there are tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands that want the exact opposite of what you want. Taking a seat in the political process will get you nowhere except for message boards complaining about candidates you think suck.
Oh right. Just forget about your ideals and what you'd like to see and vote for what you see as shit instead...what a concept...I mean, load of shite!
Most of America isn't happy with the 2 party system or the jobs either party has done. When they get over their fear of the other horrible party and realize they, infact, do have the power to change it all then things will start looking up. But they sure won't as long as there are people with this mindset of voting for people you don't even like because that's the only choice we have. It's a lie!
And I will continue to vote for the candidate who is closest to my ideal.....again, NOT PERFECT, just closest to representing my own views. If we all did this then we would actually start seeing some other choices appear viable. No party is owed anyone's vote....break the cycle.

In an ideal world I would agree with you 100%. Like I said, I want my candidate to be a viable option...call me naive, call me crazy, call me what you will...I just don't have faith in America to pick those very people. America is too diverse and too polarized (politically, religiously, etc.) to be as open-minded as say you and I.
I know you like Nader, as do I, but I cannot in good conscious vote for him. I don't think that in our lifetime given how fucked up and so polarized our country is that a vote for him could be a good thing until we get back on track.
Hindsight is 20/20 but we should all agree that if Nader had not been in the 2000 election we would not have Bush and we would not have lost 3000+ people in a stupid war, plus 8 years of an environmental-downward spiral, plus everything else.
Before overly reacting to that...hear me out. Would Nader be a better President than Gore, Bush, or Kerry? Yes. Is it realistic in this country...sadly...no.
In a country that is completely fucked up, I believe you need to get the wheels on the track before you steam forward. I hope that is the case this time around.
It isn't realistic as a direct result of mindsets like yours that just give up and go along. That gets us nowhere. Most of the country supports the things Nader is supporting..polls have proven this. He just doesn't have all that corporate money to buy him all the media time he needs to match the others. People don't even get to hear what Nader has to say in the first damn place. Yay democracy!
And Nader is not to blame for Bush. Gore didn't automatically own anyone's vote. Please realize that fact NOW. Sadly, he didn't do too well at earning quite enough votes. Also the supreme court took the election away from him not to mention the shitty ass electoral college system we have in place that no one seems to worry about. Also every single 3rd party candidate on the ballot in FL got more votes that the difference between Bush and Gore. To blame Nader is extremely short sighted and quite weak given that we live in a democracy, damn it and I'm glad we do and will keep using it to represent my voice for as long as I can. I using it the way it was meant to be used.

That's the main problem right there.
I haven't "given up" and I'm not "going along" with anyone or anything. I just think that there is a different and more realistic pathway to get to the situation/that kind of America that I think we both want. Given how fucked up our political system is I think before we get to our final destination we have to at least start walking that direction.
From my vantage point, McCain just sucks a little less than the other two. So I guess that's where my vote goes. Sigh.
for the least they could possibly do
From my view, it appears we are content in walking in the wrong direction, time and time again.

are you kidding? they're awesome...it's a democracy.

That is something that Nader and his policies will never do.
A president has to be as close to center in this country to not be overly decisive. Bush claimed he was a centrist but he was clearly on the Right on every issue and look how much people hate him.
As much as 70% of the world hates Bush, I believe the same percentage of people would hate Nader. Just on the opposite side of most of us.

All 3 of the major candidates are better than Bush or Kerry were.
So, I think no matter who gets elected, the country will be better off.
And he who forgets, will be destined to remember...
Polls show Nader's policies such as single payer healthcare, fighting corporate crime and corruption especially in gov't and ending corporate personhood are largely supported by the american public....so I'm going to have to disagree with you there.

Yeah, especially when we have numb-nuts Bush in office. In keeping with the direction metaphor ...That guy has literally walked the wrong direction and is heading towards a cliff.

I 100% agree.
McCain 8 years ago was a Democratic sweetheart, but right now hes pandering to the Right to try to get elected. He will not be apart of the Religious Right that is ruining the country. Obama is one of the most liberal senators in the senate so a lot of this Obama hate I don't understand on this board. Hilldog well she means well but I support her the least out of the 3. If its McCain vs. Hillary I may vote Republican for the first time in my life. I would wait until they debated to decide however.
