Nice. Our government gives G.I.'s with PTSD a drug to help them quit smoking, and this drug apparently is a catalyst for psychotic behavior. And the government knew that it could cause psychotic behavior, such as, oh I don't know... suicide.
How could the U.S. government know about these side effects and use G.I.'s with PTSD as guinea pigs? Seems like quite the ethical blunder to me. The sad part is, this type of thing no longer surprises me.

Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.

Yeah we also give our military anti-depressants to deal with the depression and anxiety while they are fighting a war. Is that any way to fight a war? Does that say something about the war itself?
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions

If you want to quit smoking, I recommend Chantix 100%. I had smoked a pack a day for 10 years and did the Chantix thing about a year ago. I have not so much as even wanted a cigarette since then. it makes me sick to even think about smoking a cigarette now. and like I said, I had no problems problems at all. and that's from someone who is naturally moody.
the thing is these soldiers are suffering from PTSD already
right... when you combine PTSD and a drug with side effects such as psychosis... it is probably a bad idea.
For most people it would be fine... of course... otherwise it would be taken off the market immediately
sarcasm?
i have about as much faith in drug companies doing what is right as I do weapons manufacturers putting safety locks on their bombs.
Call me a "quasi-scientologist" but I don't put anything in my body that I can fix on my own. Never will I take anti-depressants, narcotic pain killers, or anything else that can be fixed without the use of drugs.
The best is when diseases or illnesses are "created" so that more drugs can be sold. Case in point: Restless Leg Syndrome. What the fuck is that? If you're legs are restless, go for a fucking jog.
exactly
Wow. you hit it on the head. I'm a sailor that is on several anti-depressants, anxiety meds, and anti-psychs. Yeah, it makes me LLD (Light Limited Duty) which pretty much makes me a zombie at work, but I can't work without them. What's the point?
If you don't mind me asking, did you take these meds before you were in the service?
Speaking of "GI GUINEA PIGS" I also found out last night on National Geo channel that our government gave soldiers a form of Crystal Meth during WWII.
Sometimes this world just disgusts the hell out of me.
