I dont really know anything about USA politics but i watched this mourning - roughly 3am Hillary's and Barack's speech saying he won and wants change etc and if i was american i would vote for that guy, dont know if it all was cheesey and stuff but he seemed to be nailing home all the problems and wanting to end the war etc

I think its great he is young and wants to change...I get a good feeling of hope when i saw him speaking.

my 2 cents :P

go back to your "parliamentary democracy" and stay out of American politics.

    j/k....

i dunno, when I her him speak, I hear millions of people clinging to false promises and cliched hope-isms.

well, welcome to the world of politics. ;)

Obama is not perfect, nobody is, but I think he is the best candidate we have and the most exciting politician to come along in more years than I can remember. His speech last night really moved me, I thought it was amazing.

    OBAMA 08!!!

historically, campaigns are full of moving speeches. not impressed. speeches don't move me, I need action.

Obama has this pie in the sky outlook that's just not realistic. where does he think all this money's gonna come from for all his nation-healing policies? oh right ... TAXES. we are going to be taxed to death by him. I don't find that exciting.

politics as usual though, just with a more charismatic leader this time. what is our alternative, John McCain?

    He'd get my vote.
I reckon he's having to tow the line on a few issues at the moment but I suspect/hope he'll stick to his guns if he gets elected.

I was also impressed with last nights speech, but then again when is Obama ever dull and boring? Never. I am psyched that he got the democratic nomination and look forward to a november blowout of John Mccain. The state of maryland will be getting 1 more vote for Barack Obama because of me.

i cannot wait to see the debate between mccain and obama. that should be some good stuff, mccain does not stand a chance. whenever he speaks, he looks so uncomfortable and wooden, he can barely read his cue cards and certainly reads with no emotion. obama being the gifted speaker that he is will definitely just stomp all over him, and very tactfully of course!

It will be 1960 all over again. Nixon compared to JFK will be pretty similar to McCain compared to Obama during a debate.

At any rate, it's about time America had an intelligent President. I can't remember the last time America had anything other than a ridiculous fucking muppet at the helm.

His comment wasn't worth responding to. If people want to just chuck out lame soundbites with nothing to support them then you should just brush them off like flies.

We would save $10,000,000,000 a month if we leave Iraq.

    scary eh?
beyond that though....this *saving* is really saving off further debt, b/c we do not have these funds, at all! these past 8 years have been a horrendous period in our nation's history, imo, all the way round.

True. Though going into debt for education and health care would be a more fruitful and realistic investment than pie in the sky killing, torturing, and raping people who never did anything to us.

absolutely agree. just saying that really.....it's insane the *costs* of this war, ALL the costs, human, world relations....and financial.

and sure, what was that bumper sticker?

it will be a great day when schools have all the money they need and the military need to hold bake sales.

    something along those lines. :)

it IS amazing how many did support this war and think it was/is 'necessary'....but many of these same people so against funding universal healthcare, for instance. in the long run, which would be much cheaper...which would *cost* us, as a nation, MUCH less...and be so much more worthwhile?

Did you listen to the speech. Obama admitted to his shortcomings...and realized he'd have to work through them...he's the best candidate I've seen in my lifetime.

Republicans and their president pissed away Billions of dollars so the ole vote for democrate and pay higher taxes is lame....really lame. One of the main reasons oil is so high is due directly to the weekending dollar and stife in this country...so want to talk about taxes?!?!

  • After watching Obama's speech last night, I made the comment that Barack Obama's campaign is the world's most expensive and long-winded Hallmark card, much to the chagrin of my girlfriend who is a big Obama supporter.

i wonder if in this election the dems will again be talking about how important military service is to be commander and chief. i will take a wild guess at no...

glad that the state of afghanistan post soviet invasion made such a lasting impression on some people on what to do after.

Careful, there. That may end up as more of a problem for you than her. ;)

Tell me about it....I've never had to focus so hard on keeping my mouth shut and even then I've been far from completely successful. I'll be happy when this damn election is over.... ;)

Actually, the Dems were just upset at the hypocracy of Republicans attacking a man's military service when they did absolutely everything they could to avoid serving themselves.

No one's attacking McCain's service at the moment. No one's passing out POW band-aids. No one's saying that McCain had himself captured on purpose.
