As I understand it, Saddam had offered to negotiate a partial withdrawal from Kuwait but this offer was flatly rejected by the U.S who refused anything but an unconditional full withdrawal. These offers from Iraq were not reported in the mainstream media at the time. The disputed area in question was only about a mile or two over the Kuwaiti border. U.S intransigence on this issue resulted in the estimated 200,000 Iraqi deaths as an immediate effect of the war, and an estimated 1 million deaths of Iraqi children alone as a result of the subsequent sanctions. I think this is what Galloway was getting at: there were ways and means to pacify Saddam which could have averted the past 17 years of bloodshed and turmoil.0 -

Only these threads are worth reading. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

LOL, I admit that they are more interesting than endless Cornell threads, but I hope we don't see half the threads in a forum devoted to any single topic or person. Celebrate diversity!"I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -

Oh c'mon jeff, it's only two!I've seen more Ron Paul threads at once.
Maybe I'll make some Greg Palast threads to spread some of this lovely diversity you speak of!
edit: I see that it is actually 3 now.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Byrnzie wrote:I agree. I watched him the other day on some Youtube vid of a t.v interview with Bill O'Reilly. O'Reilly was constantly provoking him and trying to bully him anfd Galloway countered every one of his serves. As far as being full of shit though...I don't think so. He appears to me to simply stand up for what he believes in. If there's something which you think he can be called out on, please provide an example/some evidence of it.
I agree with you, and i think i have thrown you off with overly strong wording in my original post. My only problems with George are some small itsy policies he has tried to introduce, not even worth mentioning. When it comes to issues that actually matter (eg. War), he is spot on.
Its just so funny to watch him destroy interviewers and opponents. Bill-O was actually alright in how he handled Galloway, although what he was asking him was just retarded. Compare Bill-O to that pitiful Sky newscaster, jesus, he wiped the floor with her. And every word he says about bias newscasting is true, and as if to prove it, they try and make him answer yes or no questions to paint him as the character they want him to be - what i want to know is how someone could watch such an interview and still come to the conclusion that Galloway is a crackpot.
And in reference to the Cornell threads, i don't think we'll be reading any threads about how George Galloway's latest speech showed his beautiful soul anytime soonREMEMBER KIDS....
