(CBS 3) LANSDOWNE A Delaware County teen was arrested after admitting to fatally stabbing his brother over a video game.

Police were called to the 200 block of N. Maple Avenue in Lansdowne after reports of the incident Sunday at about 1 p.m.

When officers arrived, authorities said 13-year-old Jamir Ricks ran from the home yelling, “I just stabbed my brother.”

The boy told police he had stabbed his 16-year-old brother, Antwan, after an apparent argument over a video game.

“He (Antwan) was stabbed once in the chest and I’m being told the stab wound punctured both a lung and his heart,” Lansdowne Police Chief Daniel Kortan.

Antwan was rushed to Delaware County Hospital by his mother’s boyfriend, where he was pronounced dead just before 1:30 p.m.

Counselors were on hand at Penn Wood High School Wednesday morning, where the 13-year-old suspect took summer classes

School officials felt this was necessary to help kids cope with the shocking news.

Students attending summer school said they would rather be home playing video games, but they can’t understand why an argument over a video game lead to a student’s death.

“Games are fun, but they stupid. How are you going to fight over that? It’s not real,” said freshman, Khalil Brakat.

Rashid Snead was a friend of Antwan’s and he is having a hard time accepting the news.

“I am trying to cope with it, but I am staying strong. It’s sad,” said Snead.

School officials said several students are heading to the counselor’s office, including the whole 7th grade class that Antwan Rick’s was in.

“He seemed like a happy go lucky kid. No problems at all. He was up on his work, and his teacher said he was doing well. Everything seemed to be fine,” said Charles Cifuny of Penn Wood High School.

Jamir Ricks was charged as an adult with first degree and third degree murder, aggravated assault and other related crimes. He is scheduled for a preliminary trial in Upper Darby on Thursday.

My brother stabbed me in the foot with a pair of scissors when I was 13 and he was 10. It was in my foot (whew!). I'm just glad all we had for video games back then was Atari. I think he just stabbed me for getting him in a headlock or something. It's all fun and games until your brother stabs you in the heart though.

I remember my little brother threw a chair at me because he was losing a Nintendo game.. kids.
  • Must have been one hell of a high score!

That kids life is essentially ruined...actually both lives.

I wonder what game it was, it's probably going to get banned for sale now (that or gain sales exponentially and fly off the shelves)

I can hear it now..."A game is so exciting it'll make you kill your brother!" PG13

One of my main issues here is: Why is a 16 year old in 7th grade????
I am hoping it is a typo.
    Poor kids...:(
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

You stroke the barrel BEFORE you oil it. Otherwise the oils on your skin will speed up corrosion of the metal. Not a big issue with phosphate finishes but if you have a blued finish you want to make sure you keep it lightly oiled.

    FYI

Or the attack would have not taken place at all. Deterrance

The parents should do some jail time.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

    why it wasn't their fault.

If the parent said killling was a bad thing then thats all they can do... guide..... parents arn't able to control their childrens action
  • Maybe the kid will do the parents eventually. I wouldn't sleep with that little freak in my house.

Remember the good ole days of throwing your marble at your brother when you were losing. A little bump on the head and everybody moved on. Had to make sure it wasn't your fave aggie as your brother may have wanted to keep it.
You've changed your place in this world!

i agree with this. im tired of this "it's not the parent's fault." if your kid is so fucked up and out of touch with reality and unsupervised, that is partly your fault. and maybe parents would take their role as parent more seriously if they knew they had to answer for their fuckup's failure.

what happens if you try to teach your kid and the kid just doesn't listen.

Something like that would NEVER happen. Because, you know, kids ALWAYS listen to their parents if their parents actually tell them stuff.

in general, you are probably right... but in this case, it is entirely possible he was under the supervision of his older sibling... before he stabbed him.
