If you and your family hail from Illinois then you are aware of his ability to bridge partisan divides. If that isn't what you're hinting at, please enlighten us with any policy decisions he might have made during his tenure in both state and national politics that might have created positive or negative reactions on your part.

As for the Skull and Bones secret-society bullshit, I don't give much weight to the notion that members of elitist clubs have a lock on victory when their turns come around.

Personally, I love Obama ~ read both of his books and have followed most every bit of news about him since his resounding speech at the DNC (I'm an independent, by the way) in 2004. He'd make a phenomenally untainted president.

I dont know too much about him, and sadly my attention span is hard to keep when I read something :( . But I have heard good things about him. I've heard that hes supposedly alot like Kennedy. But I also just have a good feeling about him, I cant tell just by looking at him (I know that sounds like total bull shit, but seriously). So I'de vote for him if I could.

I'm from Illinois (originally) and I like Obama. What specifically about his IL record don't you like?

I would take him in a heartbeat over Hillary...god I can't stand her!!

For a lawyer, your debate skills really suck. No accompanying evidence when you state your claim?

Thanks NCFan, that was a good read. I don't know how much of it I agree with. I wish I shared Sullivan's high opinion of the electorate. I really don't think that most of them have thought about the issues, the election, or Obama himself, as deeply as Sullivan gives them credit for. For example, he goes on at length about the profound reasons that the majority of Republicans name Obama as their favorite Democratic candidate, while I think most of them favor him because they still believe that his race is such an overwhelming handicap that even one of their pathetic candidates would beat him.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading it, and you also reminded me to renew my Atlantic subscription, so thanks again!

  • After reading that, I still don't know a goddamn thing about him. "He talk good," is all I ever hear my Obama loving friends say. So does Joel Osteen, ya want him to be prez?

Certainly the GOP likes him better then Clinton, they like anyone better then a Clinton.

This is going to be the biggest joke of an election ever seen.
Think about our choices, is that not a joke?

But jokes are supposed to be funny. This is more of a tragedy.

Some interesting opinions in there. What he says about Obama and american politics being stuck in Vietnam-era has some merit.

As usual though, the threat of terrorism is blown all out of proportion and compared with war and giving it as shadowy and dark angle as is possible. Terrorist organizations will never pose a threat the size of the one hanging over say the cold war, and the situation today is nowhere even close conditions leading up to the world wars. Today is actually one pf the most peaceful eras in international political history. (which, granted, says more of the era before now) So although I can see the merit of the points he makes, I completely disagree and disregard his motive and rationale for coming forward with them.

    Peace
