Yeah, unless you act quickly from having initial symptoms, menengitis is deadly.

My parents friends had a daughter killed by this while she was going to school on the east coast. The father was on the next plane he could be on from California and she died before he could get to the hospital. It was less than 24hrs. :(

    Be Careful

wash hands and always brush teeth...i just had a friend have a stroke becasue of the plaque build up on his arteries. he is in his early forties...thanks for giving me an op to put out a reminder...

plaque from the teeth if not removed ends up causing blockage of blood vessel function...

I was about to tease you for mixing up arterial plaque with gingivitis but decided I better google this first. Seems there is a bit of validity to this. Learn something new everyday...

A really good friend of mine (who I'd known since we were seven years old) suddenly died of menengitis about four years ago...He felt like he had the flu, went to the ER and he was dead in less that 24 hours. This guy had beat a cocaine addiction, nearly had is leg amputated, amongst other things...and then this supid little virus came along and killed him...

Now, my other friend (who was also a friend of the one above) had menengitis when she was six years old, spent Christmas in ICU and her parents were told she would die...but no! She made a full recovery with no residual effects...

So yeah....it's a really scary thing...

yes there is...the guy i know is a chronic user of cannabis...his bloodpressure by all means should be considerably lower...he had a moderate stroke losing his speech motor skills...the doctor said it was plaque

i say, yuk....how could he ever get intimate??? but neverthe less a friend is a friend...

women can also be subjected to this as well, only the plague can cause some sort of virus in your heart; my former employer was exposed and it took quite a lot of stress testing to determine her problem but she was always shortwinded, even walking only a few hundred feet.......i really am glad to be able to share this because this stroke can be prevented....

I am sorry for the sadness concerning meningitis. I knew a baby once who was exposed and needed critical care...I recall her being in the IC unit for more than 48 hours and it was touch and go for awhile....Thank you for sharing your concerns about that friend...What a drag...It's usually the ones who wanna live who can't and the ones who don't give a damn thrive...For this reason we, who are able, need to live life to the fullest....peace.
