Just wait until the carbon tax comes.

autofeed pellett systems will be on the market soon with pelletts made from sawdust by product of timber mills. Should be more cost effective. Also I'm sure as bio diesel products become more commercially viable this should start becoming an option for home heating oil. IN the short term... no good news in petrolium at all.

Plans for Long Island LNG plant move ahead
By Pippa Jack • Tuesday, January 29, 2008 11:15 AM EST
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has found that a proposed liquid natural gas (LNG) terminal nine miles off Long Island doesn’t pose an environmental threat.
Tankers for the floating plant, which would be connected to an undersea pipeline and supply LNG to New York and Connecticut, would either pass through Block Island Sound or approach from the north after passing between the island and Montauk, N.Y.
The FERC released its environmental impact study on the plant January 11. The study was conducted along with the U.S. Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers and Environmental Protection Agency, among other agencies.
Broadwater LNG plans to build a storage and re-gasification unit tethered to the ocean floor in Long Island Sound, where tankers would unload LNG bound for a new section of underwater pipeline that would hook up with an existing pipeline nearby. Two to three tankers would unload there each week after first stopping at pilot stations in either Point Judith or Montauk.
According to Broadwater, two-thirds of Long Island residents support the plan, which could save the average household in the area about $300 a year in energy costs.
thanks for this at least they are trying to lossen the noose thanks again by the time they get this done maybe i will be fully converted to gas enegy for my house till then i will have to suck it up & tighten my belt ...

me too i will also do the same but at the moment i'm not ready to start that project i will wait till summer and purchase one of those so it all comes down to strategy to get over this mess for a while ...
Yeah its not a bad way to go, I have some friends that do it and they don't bother with gas anymore, hell they never turn on the boiler(furnace) all winter. It gets pretty cold here in the winter and its either I move to the south somewhere or stay here and deal with it. And since PJ doesn't play the south, that won't be happening.

An interesting idea. Something to be aware of though is sawdust prices (like many commodity prices) has risen from around $25/ton to over $100/ton in some places
Ft Worth 9-15-23
Hartford 5-13-06, 6-27-08, 10-25-13
Mansfield, MA 6-30-08, 6-28-08, 7-2-03, 7-3-03, 7-11-03, 8-29-00, 8-30-00, 9-15-98, 9-16-98
Worcester 10-15-13, 10-16-13
yeah I figure in commercial supply it will become an enemy of itself. The LNG plant is probably the best hope. The choices though should spread out demand which should hopefully help the prices.
