An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.
At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.
Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.
Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.
We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.

Ain't that truth, MLK was a man of Peace and non-violence and then you've a candidate like Dennis Kucinich who is never given a chance to be heard.
First Presidential candidate I've ever heard of who wants to create a DEPARTMENT OF PEACE.

And the paper that amazing speech was written on was then just handed to George Raviling a former college coach. He still has it to this day, you'd think he'd want to keep it for some historical purpose.
However that wasn't Dr. King, the man was not about materialism he was more about Peace and he may have said something like let's all "STAY HUMAN".

Some of these should be amended into your constitution.
It is interesting how this man died 40 years ago, and yet perhaps these quotes are more pertinent to right now.
i think most people pay lip service to the man and this is a great point ... mlk jr. has been manipulated by each person's own conscience to fit a need ...
