NEW YORK (AP) -- After a firestorm of criticism, News. Corp. said Monday that it has canceled the O.J. Simpson book and television special "If I Did It."
"I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project," said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. "We are sorry for any pain that his has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson."

A dozen Fox affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special, planned for next week before publication of the book. It was being published by ReganBooks, a HarperCollins imprint owned, like the Fox network, by News Corp.

In the projects, Simpson speaks in hypothetical terms about how he would have committed the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Goldman.

The industry trade publication Broadcasting & Cable editorialized against the show Monday, saying "Fox should cancel this evil sweeps stunt."

One of the nation's largest superstore chains, Borders Group Inc., said last week it would donate any profits on the book to charity.

Why they ever agreed to do it is beyond my thinking but at least they finally came to their senses.

Now if they would get rid of O'Reilly.:D

I know ya did ;). but I found it strange that O'Reilly was calling for a boycott of any of the sponsers that went on during the show and slammed reagan books. I know fox news and news corp are different but its still the parent company of fox news right? either way he was pissed and I'm glad it got cancelled

    "Ill-considered"....ya think?????

Murdoch should be bitch-slapped for even thinking that this was anything near a good idea. And OJ right along with him.

    Ill-considered...understatement of the year.

I would have loved to be in the room when the geniuses pitched this one to FOX Execs. I mean, who green lighted this program? Were they on an week long crack bender or what?
Then again... look at who we're talking about... 'Man vs. Beast', 'Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire', 'The Factor', 'Celebrity Boxing' (featuring the likes of Joey Butafuko and Tanya Harding), 'Hannity and Combs', 'Joe Millionaire', etc...

    Hmmmm.....good point.

But, in truth, I watch Fox News regularly (and enjoy) and you cannot hold the employees responsible for the actions of their bosses.

    But still a good point!
*"crack bender"???? That was too funny!

Come on, OJ was acquitted in court. He wasnt found guilty so we should treat him as such. We should listen to what the man has to say, it is his right to free speech, afterall.

Just kidding !!!!! I still think the glove fit !!!

Oh.. i like FOX. The think they do a GREAT job on the NFL, Major League Baseball, 'The Simpsons', 'King Of The Hill', etc... They are GREAT with entertainment and come up with the BEST of the worst of junk T.V. That is their niche.... junk T.V.
How anyone can take them seriously, though? Sort of like liking the music of a band and going out and voting for some dude because the singer likes him. I cannot understand either type of that particular mindset.

Well I agree, but there are people that do....

Bill O'Reilly's opinion of the situation is the first thing that makes me dislike him a little less.

Very glad the book and tv thing are canceled though. The whole idea of it is ghoulish.
