come on Train. show your love for this GOP candidate. I wouldnt vote for him because I really despise when politicians use religion to further their agenda. Being a religious person is fne, and America is founded with Christianity in mind but this is too much. extreme views of religion is just bad, no matter religion it is.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Republican Sen. Sam Brownback (news, bio, voting record), a favorite of the religious right, said Monday he is taking the first step toward launching a bid for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.

A vigorous abortion opponent, the Kansas senator pledged to make "issues of life," fiscal restraint and tax reform key components of his effort to woo supporters.

"I have decided, after much prayerful consideration, to consider a bid for the Republican nomination for the presidency," Brownback said in a statement. "There is a real need in our country to rebuild the family and renew our culture and there is a need for genuine conservatism and real compassion in the national discussion."

It would be a dream come true if he got the nomination :D

    Unfortunately, it'll never happen.

He is the exact kind of person primed to win in '08. The winner is going to be a Republican, we know that. And the winner of that nominination is going to be a social conservative.

However, I don't think it will be him because he is a Senator. And unlike the Dems, I think the GOP will be smart enough to nominate a governer.
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.

Damn. And McCain's a Senator. Dare I ammend my above post? Yes. McCain's popularity may put him in position to get that nomination despite being a Senator and not as socially conservative as Brownback.

I still think that Mitt Romney is the next president. All that hurts him is that he is named Mitt.

If McCain wins his nomination, will be be re-acquainted with the term "Keating 5?"

I'd like the Republicans to nominate Brownback and the Democrats to nominate Hillary. That would give us our first Libertarian president.

I do like this statement but could just be alot of political hot air. I dont know, if it came to him and Hilliary. it would be him. but brownback vs obama. thats tough. I need to hear more from obama.
  • I look forward to him making gays and abortion the central themes of his campaign. Should make for a fun primary season in GOP-land.

I just can't stand hearing about "compassion" from someone who is so socially conservative that only people in his vision as to what is "moral", deserve to be treated with compassion.
