for the socialist.
"A few weeks before she was nominated for Vice-President, (Sarah Palin) told a visiting journalist—Philip Gourevitch, of this magazine—that “we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.”

...Not exactly what I was aiming at.
i mean, when you state the original quote of this post just a short while ago (i believe right after she was announced as the vp pick) and then just a couple days ago she says this in iowa:
"See, under a big government, more tax agenda, what you thought was yours would really start belonging to somebody else, to everybody else. If you thought your income, your property, your inventory, your investments were, were yours, they would really collectively belong to everybody. Higher taxes, more government, misusing the power to tax leads to government moving into the role of some believing that government then has to take care of us. And government kind of moving into the role as the other half of our family, making decisions for us. Now, they do this in other countries where the people are not free."
i will agree with st27 that it is all old and tiresome, but i will disagree with him on the "spread the wealth around" quote, because you just need to watch the whole interaction with joe the lying plumber was never going to buy a business that makes $250k+ anyways. it is easy to cherry-pick quotes to puke endlessly to your base to get them all worked up.
here's the full conversation:

I was going to post that link as well.
I am tired of the socialist talk as well. I was hoping people would pick up on the irony/hypocricy of it all.
I honestly could care less about Joe the Plummer. I'm simply mentioning the quote in general. I want to keep what I earn. I don't want to have to give to organizations or get taxed more because of how much I make. I don't make enough to have to worry about the 250+ raise, but I also don't think its fair that they want to take from them either. If you earn it, it's yours, to do with what you want. Don't raise taxes, but don't cut them either. Just teach the American people that they can't always get what they want.
But that vice president has a very good chance of being president before they're out of office.
According to Biden that figure is now $150k.
This is true on both sides. Unfortunately
250k for households
I can't believe there wasn't a better option than Biden. Sheeesh.
i want to keep as much of what i earn as well and don't make anywhere near $250k. my understanding all that obama is planning on doing is doing away with the tax break that bush implemented after clinton left office. am i wrong?
Not exactly... I know that has become a right wing radio bullet point, but here is the rundown:
Biden aides say his comments were actually consistent with Obama's tax plan -- people under $150,000 get a cut, and people making up to $250,000 stay the same.
Indeed, here's what Obama said at the Saddleback forum in August: "What I can say is under the approach I'm taking, if you make $150,000 or less, you will see a tax cut. If you're making $250,000 a year or more, you're going to see a modest increase." ***CLARIFICATION *** The Obama campaign tells First Read that this is how Obama's plan breaks down: People making less than $250,000 will not see their taxes increase, and people making less than $200,000 will receive some type of tax cut. And all of this is essentially reflected in the Tax Policy Center stats below.
*** UPDATE *** An Obama aide points out to First Read that the $150,000 figure Biden was citing was simply an example of what someone making that amount would get under Obama's tax plan. Indeed, Biden's $150,000 remark came after he referred to someone making $1.4 million.
Per the Tax Policy Center, here is how Obama's tax plan breaks down for individuals:
$0-$18,891 = $567 tax cut
$18,982-$37,595 = $892 tax cut
$37,596-$66,354 = $1,118 tax cut
$66,355-$111,645 = $1,264 tax cut
$111,646-$160,972 = $2,135 tax cut
$160,973-$226,918 = $2,796 tax cut
$226,919-$603,402 = $121 tax increase
$603,403-$2.87 million = $93,709 tax increase
$2.87 million-plus = $542,882 tax increase
