Its now over ran with Socialist.
The founding fathers are turning over in their graves as we speak. If Obama gets elected its the end of Capitalism as we know it.
We should all sit back and let the rich provide for us.
Good idea, how come we didn't think of it before? oh wait, aren't most of the people working their asses to actually produce wealth, while only a minority profits (I'll leave you to decide if that minority is the poorest or the richest). Never forget that the middle class has neither benefits nor high levels of income;
But what if they decide to do the same?
Or leave the country?
What if there are less and less rich people (just richer) and more and more poor people (and poorer). Wouldn't that be the same? Which is were we are headed anyways.
Hmm so Ireland will be punished for rejecting the Lisbon Treaty? That's how the EU deals with countries that don't agree with everything?
i'm not saying they will but it'll be hard to be empathetic to a country which rejected a stronger and more unified europe. Obviously common sense will prevail but Ireland has been backed up by many millions of other countries tax money for many years, and so to reject Lisbon might be seen as a bit of 'kick to the teeth' of other Euro countries.
Again, just hypothesising, not saying it will be the case.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Not being a part of Socialism is what makes America great. Why do you think all the people from europe want to come here.....because Socialism does not work! You pay high ass taxes and the premiums are out the ass. In that type of goverment you are limited on your achievements. America is the land of oppertunity. So a bunch of idiots tried to live above their means and buy expensive houses. So now we have to have a whole new financial restructuring? Total bullshit.
Oh and the redistribution of wealth thing????? What a motherfucker. How dare he say that to hardworking people out there who bust their ass because they want more for their families.
also dude... 3 weeks ago on this very forum you admitted you were just getting into politics, 3 weeks later you're trying to tell me ALL the people in Europe want to live in America (which they dont) and that we are all socialists????
do some research first maybe?

Only a minority profits? If you get a paycheck, you're profiting.
The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.
What makes this sadly ironic is that Obama's plans involve by far the least government intervention of the three main Democratic candidates from the beginning of this race. There's a bit more to government-sponsored socialism than heavy taxation, although you wouldn't know it from some of the responses in this thread. Socialism involves government control and ownership of private insititutions, and it must be total. This recent direct injection of capital into the banks comes close to that, although we've come close to that in the past during the Depression and in the 80s with Continental Illiniois Bank. What is it about Obama's health care plan that's socialist? A socialist plan would be a completely government-run plan, which is not Obama's plan at all. Obama proposes a middle-class tax cut; less government intervention with the people, not more. Socialist government is not using more money to fund organizations and programs; it's a top-down approach where the government is involved in every aspect of public life. The Democratic Party has socialist elements, because it is the left (although I suppose that's arguable). It's not entirely socialist, because that's the extreme of a moderate party. Similarly, Republicans have elements of fascism, but the party is not fascist; it's simply the extreme example of political ideology for Republicianism in the States.
Pretty much. I mean, really, how hard would it be to take a bottle of Just for Men "Natural grey" to those bad boys and sort them out?
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
Ok obviously we have a very different outlook on work.
Production of something (a service, a book, a chair, a repair...) = work = being paid.
Cashing dividends while not producing anything = not work = being paid a whole lot more than working.
Looking for work = not work = being paid a little to not loose your home before being able to find work.
You could argue all the categories deserves the money, but surely you can't argue that only the 2nd really deserves the money?
but you are producing something when you cash dividends. You are enabling the production of all that other stuff. You are lending people money so they have the ability to produce books chairs etc. That's as important as anything isn't it? Materials aren't free. If it was easy to be a trader or hedge fund manager wouldn't everyone do it?
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

Investement and capitalization are important, but I think it shoud logically be done in a long-term perspective to prevent putting the actual production at risk. People here are talking of a slow yet consistent shift of the ressources from production to dividends, less and less money is going to the first category while more and more is going to the second. While they are important, the first are just as much (if not more according to some ).
I never said it was easy to be a hedge fund manager, it's a job I would hate, way too much pressure. But the problem, imo again, is this transfer of capital from the concrete production to the for abstract investors which is dangerous - way more than the welfare state (which could be greatly improved I think we all agree on this).
I love how republicans love to think the democrats are so socialistic, when Bill Clinton got rid of millions of people off the welfare rolls, AND balanced the budget. If a republican president did that, you republicans would have considered him to be a god.
Hey I agree Clinton was a great president. I really like him. But its a different group of people in there now.
And to Dunk. Many do wan tto come to America. Every year I have exchange students working for me from Russia, Bulgaria, Kosovo etc..and they all talk about how they love America. Like I said before, I know we ar enot so popular right now and won't be for a while but thats life. We may have lost a few battles but we will never loose the war.
Get em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!
Sweep the Leg Johnny.

what war you fighting AG? the war to become No1 nation of the world? why? why the need for a victory like that? can't you just be happy living in a great country? i know i am.

The Democrat party is indeed dead. They have been for at least nine years.
Socialists?
That's some pretty funny shit coming from a supporter of Facist Corporate Republican America.
As Doug Stanhope once said.....
" At least black people knew they were slaves. You people are cluless..."
Facism has been slowly creeping into our america for a long time, now. And Facism truely gained some significant ground under this Bush/Chenney administration,.
So now Repugs are feeding their leemings the next mission statement.......
" Vote For Obama, Is A Vote For Socialism"
"Obama is a Terrorist, We Swear!!"
" Jesus Hates Obama! Believe Me When I Tell You This!"
LMAO!
Yeah, god forbid Socialism should over-throw this greedy, philty with corruption, Corporate/Capitalist Extremist agenda; being perpetrated by the Corporate Elite of the world; which has resulted in a Facist America.
Interesting interpretation of Europe you have there.

It's not easy getting everyone to agree. The Irish have the right to disagree and vote the way they choose. What if Scotland/UK didn't agree with something and was put in the same situation? It should be understood that countries will object to many issues and not just go with the flow.
The Irish have big balls

America is still a beacon of hope... to eastern europe! Dude, we're all fucked now, with or without Obama. Stick to singing "More than Words" acoustic man!

You could say something like according to US Immigration 80,000+ Europeans became naturalized in 2007, which is down from 2006 when 100,000+ Europeans were naturalized

Notice that the immigrants are from eastern europe. They are also migrating to western europe. They are from capitalist economies. But the mafia has taken all the wealth. This has nothing to do with socialism.

Sweet. I'm totally voting for Obama now.
