I know I know you do not agree but he is the only one who I agree with when it comes to the issues.
To point out a few....
Abortion....pro choice, With that said, I do not think its ok to use it as a type of birth control. Regulate it.
Marriage....You and I do not have the right to tell people who to marry.
The American Borders....Secure the fuckers already.
Taxes.... Keep'em down

You can not argue the fact that he did a great job in cleaning up New York.
If you went there before and after you would understand.

Bring on the bashing baby.

I like the things you agree with him on but he wants to massively increase the size of our military. I do not think that is necessary or even fiscally possible.
  • eh ...
Giuliani certainly was central in turning NYC around, but I think you fail to see the problem with using that as an argument for his presidency: his efforts in NYC could NOT have been accomplished with out Federal subsidy.
You need to understand this! Here is a quick article link i dug up with some relevance.

Sure, cutting your city's spending helps, but what was really key to "fixing" NYC was increasing revenues from subsidized sources! He got money by porkbarreling congress ... getting loopholes for allowing NYC to receive "extra" Medicaid funds, or by taxing out of state workers.

HOW IS HE GOING TO SUBSIDIZE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT?
Who else is there to steal money from when you are talking about the entire country? Thats it. Thats everyone and everything. There is no one left and no secret place to get that money from!

OH WAIT ... you mean ...

Besides finding more sneaky ways to tax you?
(like printing lots and lots of "money" -- which really does nothing more than STEAL wealth from YOU!)

    :( :( :(
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

I agree with all of them in one thing or another, but that doesn't make them all the "right choice".

Agreed, we cant even afford our current military presence throughout the world and he wants to increase it. We can NOT afford what we have now, let alone what he would bring.

Why I would be afraid of Rudy as president:

He is basically ready to go to war with any country that even looks at us funny

I dont think he has the knowledge required on economics or foreign policy to be a serious candidate

His handling of the Bernard Kerik situation shows terrible decision making skills

It really bothers me that he doesnt have great support among NYC firemen and police

His strong supporter of The Patriot Act tells me he does not care about personal liberties, and individuals rights

I think his mis-use of city money and resources to shuttle his girlfriend around are terrible, and only show that with more power he will likely find more egregious ways to exploit his power

I see some interesting points here.
I am glad that most of the posts are not written in a nasty way, It lets me see other sides.

When posting here, please tell me who who think is a better candidate.

I do not think it would be a bad thing to increase our military, only b/c so many other countries hate us more then ever now, I am worried some might want to pick a fight. With that said, I DO NOT want to continue fighting wars.
I just want to be ready for one. You gotta defend yourself when attacked.

Rather have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

no one in the world has a military capable of rivaling ours ... even north korea with ONE MILLION plus in its marching army would have nothing on us ... how are they going to deploy those troops against us, how are they going to get a supply line to support those troops, air power to cover them, or anything else necessary to actualy wage a war against us that puts AMERICA in ANY danger?

Just think about it, before you fall for the paranoia.

no one is gonna pick a fight with the US ... unless you're one of the ones who still believes the *they hate us because of our freedom* line ...

rudy is part of this military industrial complex - hence why his foreign policy is right in line with bush ... in my opinion - he has to be the worst choice for president as far as peace and liberties goes ...

There is no need to increase our military. As it stand we account for 49% of the worlds military spending. We spend almost as much as every other country on this planet compined. If you look at the top 25 countries when it comes to military spending, we are #1. We actually spend more than the other top 24 combined. Another thing to consider is where the funding for this military expansion will come from. If he is not going to raise taxes then where is the money going to come from. A) he is going to divert the funds from other areas or b) he is going to pass down the finacial burden to later generations.

As someone already stated Rudy did do a great job at reducing crime in the city. As someone who has been going into NYC since the Dinkins administration I have seen the turn around first hand and I applaud Rudy for a job well done. He did not do it alone though. I believe it was drifting who mentioned all the federal aid and how a significant portion of the finacial burden was placed on commuting workers. The NYC public school system also suffered under Rudy and the city was dead broke. If you where to compare Bloomberg with Rudy you would see that Bloomberg inproved the education system in NYC, decreased crime by a greater percentage than Rudy and brought the city out of finacial ruin without having raise taxes. He did so by cutting spending, something Rudy doesn't even know how to do.

Let's not even mention Rudy's ethics. Using tax payer dollars to have NYPD drive his mistress around. Then there is also the new stadiums for the Mets and Yankees. Even though NYC was finacially destitute he still oked the city to pay for half the cost of the new stadiums for both teams. Didn't even put it to a vote or hold town hall meeting to see what the public thought of this. The man is nothing short of a corporate whore who would continue to sell more and more of this country to special interests and corporations.

You mean that's not why they hate us? What could it possibly be then? You know what's really sad? Whenever Rudy is in front of a camera it's like some one pulls the cord in his back and he says "9/11 9/11 9/11". Its become a joke now...

How about when he couldn't stop laughing at the tough questions Mr. Russert was asking him. This guy is the worst option for our country out of the whole entire lot, and it has nothing to do with the issues you raised...

Rudy will never get elected. He seems like a nice guy, but an average Joe, not the leader of the free world.. He doesn't seem like a leader at all. I don't get that vibe from him. Being from Chicago, I love mayor Daley, but running this country? Hell no!.. Guiliani's also exploiting 9/11.

giuliani was a great mayor on september 9 or any other date.... while he did halfway decent on september 11 and did decently in turning the city around and hiring the correct people to do it, he also was a very divisive mayor and i personally don't like anyone who exploits 9/11, especially someone from new york.

I love how the Onion ran a story of how Rudy was running for the President of 9/11. John Stewart also ran a nice piece last night on how Rudy uses a 9/11 reference everytime he opens his mouth.
