So - are we at war or what? I keep hearing it's still a "peacekeeping mission". Whatever - it sucks in the worst way something could suck...
be philanthropic

the reason that you hear peacekeeping is because our leaders don't want people to start thinking that we are in a war.
we are in a war and will be there until 2011 if mr harper has his way.

Well I certainly didn't vote for Harper!!!!! Do you really think it would have made a difference though?

and 109 people died today accross the us as a direct result of drunk driving.
for sure would have made a difference
Seriously?
I thought for sure you were once in the Canadian Army and made it to General - only to turn down the position to keep your singing career going or whatever it is that you do this week.
Canadians have a far different view on war and casualties and so, yes, 2 Canadian soldiers getting killed is a "big thing" no matter how you try to belittle it.

it's sad when we feel much better if these young people are killed in the us as a result of a drunk driver or a drive-by shooting. we were in vietnam from the time i was born until i turned 18. i lost a lot of friends and had many come back shot to pieces.
it's sad that 27% of those returning from iraq are committing suiside because the anti-war people treat them like they did something wrong.
it's sad; very sad.
not only did you completely misquote me and borderline slander me; you completely missed the plot.
my point was that any life lost is a "big thing" no matter where they're killed.
except for criminals. i say kill them all and let God sort them out.
but more people should be aware of the innocent lives lost no matter where they're killed.
Slander? Please.
You just seem to have direct, first hand experience with almost every single topic on this board, so I figured this would be no different. I read your post as an "oh yeah?" kind of post, one-upping the thread strater with a random stat about 50x more americans dying senseless deaths. There wasn't much else to it, so based on my experience with you, what was I to think? A one line post doesn't offer much of a plot. Good try though.

do you think that maybe they killed themselves becuase of what they saw in the war made them alittle depressed. don't blame everything on the anti-war people

While I empathize with this plight of every nation, this thread was about Canadian soldiers dying in Afghanistan...
We have drunk drivers in Canada, too....
We also have troops that come home and commit suicide or just wander off the face of the planet. But the fact that in Afghanistan, they are just driving along doing their thing - and they get blown up. That is what this thread is about...or at least that was my intention...
"In Flanders Field..." my friends....
Fuckin' Amazing!
They should have been stoned. O wait that's illegal.
War is another story. The fact that the US is so messed up internally has nothing to do with its foreign policy, and in no way excuses these senseless deaths.
very tasteless post
