  • Funny...I know several people that live in New Orleans and that were uprooted, etc and they've always painted pretty much a different picture than Spike Lee did in the film. Granted...they also obeyed the mandatory evacuation. The lesson here...anyone can make a story out of anything they want to.
  • I've got it Tivo'd. Just haven't found the proper time to watch it, as I'm sure I'll probably spend four hours crying my eyes out. I know it is going to be completely heart-wrenching, but know I have to see it.

And yeah, Spike Lee. He doesn't do anything half-assed, as far as I'm concerned. I was really pleased to see that he put this together. Just wish there had been no need.

Anybody know if PJ is involved with the musician-based movement to support and provide instruments, etc with the artists from that part of our world? Thought I saw U2's Edge working that up.

oh so Spike Lee made it all up?

and the people who couldn't afford to escape deserved to die or sit around and not be rescued? is that what you're saying?

that everything in new orleans is just peachy??

This comment is just about as heartless as the one Barbara Bush made in the film. And by the way it wasn't a story it was reality...yes those were real people, tens of thousands of them really!! Not computer generated images, not extras in a hollywood blockbuster. Real American citizens left stranded for days without food or water.

Are Kat and Sea in a business meeting all day? I'm just surprised at the number of A Moving Train threads that haven't been moved to A Moving Train. Anyone else think it's weird how long these threads are staying on the Porch?

Yes I think it's really weird they have been staying on SO long and that seems to be of major concern to some people. But still not yet quite as long as it took our government to respond to the victims of the hurricane, I'm sure they'll have it all tidied up and moved for you anytime now.

  • Once again sorry to everyone I posted this here because it was a cause Pearl Jam supported and didn't think it would be such a clog up to the threads and be a big deal. Maybe if it was about ten's of thousands of Pearl Jam posters floating around New Orleans in airtight plastic tubes it would have been a more appropriate thread for the porch and generated more response.

Although Pearl Jam has made an effort to raise money for Katrina victims, I don't think they've actually stated any views on the politics behind it.

Mr. Lee's work was political in nature so the 2 aren't 'really' related.

Hence the comments you are receiving in your thread.

I know it took the government a long time to respond to Hurricane Katrina victims. But, back on the minor topic of my little post. Why is this thread still here, and not in A Moving Train?

Political to an extent, perhaps, but it was mostly just people telling their stories.

What different picture did they paint? If you mean something about the evacuation, I don't think it was that easy as 'obeying' it. Some people didn't have transportation out of the city.

I haven't seen the documentary yet, as I don't get HBO, but hope to see it somehow in the future.

You seem like a real moron to be concerned with such an idiotic anal retentive thing as where a post belongs compared to real human people that lost everything they ever owned and had to suffer for days some dying on bridges and overpasses in flood waters ect.. ect.. but hey since it's no big deal to you and a thread placement holds such high priority.... maybe someday you will be faced with something like the people in new orleans had to endure and i hope someone as coldhearted as yourself is too busy organizing threads on the pearl jam web site to come and help you..

    Youre fine!!

I hate when people feel the need to tell other people that they posted in the wrong forum! Ugh.

Anyway, yes I saw it and honestly, the rage I felt is beyond words. Also my anger at myself for not being more aware of what actually happened there and doing what I could to help.
