I'm not sure how lucid you are, but perhaps you were unaware that much of the PNW is forested. Perhaps the desert would be more to your liking. Good lord, look at all the trees here. Any chance that may be part of the attraction for people?

Totally agree. Most new construction, and certainly any development of any size around here has buried lines for power, cable, etc... But much of the older, main distributution infrastructure remains above ground, causing large scale outages due to trees falling.

  • i think buried power lines suck too because its hard to find the braek in it

im in wa and i know there are trees -you think im stupid?-the trees dont need to be tall near the damn lines ,but people worships trees here i guess

i still dont know what its like in nl spain mexico ,maine etc

sort of funny -the damn airport was sooo concerned about those 14 little trees in the airport

12 people dead in wa most due to no heat and they used generators in home and die of the fumes

does this happen in nl france etc?

we dont seem to be the brightest people on winter life
  • The tallest trees are found in Wilt Chamberlain's pants.
  • then i see idiots walking around here in 38 degree weather or less, in t shirts -it seems weird to me

its as if they think -"theres no such thing as winter"

and they all go crazy when it rains and snows -stark raving mad
  • and then theres people that climb mountains in winter winds and get stranded for days and possibly die up there like mt hood

    why are people so weird?

I think the tallest & oldest are in California but that's no reason to suggest cutting down old ones in WA.

of the 365 days a year, how bad is a few days without power? We had hurricanes here in the last few years that left us without power for a month one summer, and people were going ape-shit. I thought it was funny. I loved it. people drove their cars like assholes, and showed their selfish sides. Even as sometimes it was difficult, i grew more aware of how appeciative i was of my surroundings, my friends, and my family.

Those trees could be hundreds of years old, no power line should ever cause one of these gems its life.

its like 35 degrees here and few days ago it was 10 degrees with wind chills at 20 below -sure a few days without power and no hot showers frozen pipes and no hot food -real fun-

6 days and some in wa still have no heat all because they love the tall trees i guess

Maybe they don't want to piss of the Ents???

Trees grow. I think we just need to deal with that... Of course I've heard Nebraska doesn't have many trees.

It's really expensive to do, over here in orlando the Disney areas have buried power lines but only because of the huge amounts of money they have.
I think palm beach is getting them next. (many many rich folks in that area)

Actually, part of the problem with falling trees, is the new construction and the cutting down of the (80+yr old) douglas firs which are prevalent here. The big trees actually support themselves in the windstorms and when too many are cut, for houses or lawns, the remaining ones aren't supported. Hence, they fall. I cringe every time a house in our neighborhood is sold, as it seems most want lawns and not forest. Why move to an area that is forested and cut down the trees. It drives me crazy. I know it's that person's property, but we live here because of the trees. I can't tell you the number of people that have moved here, cut down the trees just to move in a year. It degrades the whole ecosystem. Enough with my rant I guess, I just wish that people would consider their environment more before making changes. :)

or theyre just outside for 10 minutes or they expect our energy wasting society to have the heat up for them like on a bus - i say people are stupid

then they go up mountains "to get close to god" and expect others to risk thier lives to rescue them

I have a heat allergy, when I don't take my antihistamine pills I get a hives. Today, I was out of pills and on my way to the pharmacist I felt the allergic reaction, I was wearing a t-shirt a sweater and a jacket, I took off my jacket and sweater even though it was freezing.

These people were experienced climbers who made a mistake. I'd be willing to bet that none of them ever thought of the idea that anone else would be risking their lives to rescue them. You think they EXPECT these rescuers to come running before they set out on their climb? Very presumptuos. AS humans, and with the common decency to help people in distress, i think we all would hope that any person who CAN be helped, deserves to be helped in these situations.

well i hope you don't live in a house, or wipe your ass with toilet paper, or write on paper, or.....

This is just like hunting just to kill something vs. hunting to get something to eat.

If there's no overwhelming need to chop down a tree (ie-just because it might knock down some powerlines) let the mutherfucker live.

If you're gonna use the tree, plant a new one, and go on with your clean booty.
