WASHINGTON – The most likely victim of a hate crime in the U.S. is a poor, young, white, single urban dweller, according to an analysis of Justice Department statistics collected from between July 2000 and December 2003.

A November report by the Bureau of Justice Statistics detailing a study of 210,000 "hate crimes" a year during that period has gone virtually unreported by the U.S. press.

But it does contain some surprising numbers. While race is, by far, the No. 1 factor cited as the reason for hate crimes, blacks are slightly less likely to be victims and far more likely to be perpetrators, the statistics show.

Here are some numbers from the report you mentioned.

Per capita rates of hate crime victimization varied little by race or
ethnicity: about 0.9 per 1,000 whites, 0.7 per 1,000 blacks, and 0.9 per
1,000 Hispanics were reported to the National Crime Victimization Survey.

So the article by the very unbaised World Net Daily is wrong. Whites are just as likely, not more likely, to be victims of a hate crime as blacks, asians. or hispanics.

This is why the notion of a "hate crime" is stupid. Any crime could probably be twisted into a hate crime. If a crime isn't a hate crime is it a love crime?

Hate victims can feel isolated within their communities
Most hate crimes motivated by racism and prejudice are not reported because the victims "lack confidence" in the police, a charity study has indicated.
Victim Support found the 107 hate victims they interviewed also feared going to court and revenge attacks.
Of those who did report the crime, only one in five felt they were well supported by the police, it said.
An Association of Chief Police Officers spokesman said hate crime investigations were given top priority.

"Hate crime is a very clear indicator of a destabilised society. We have to be mindful of not demonising people."
The report, entitled Crime and Prejudice, focused on the experiences and support needs of people who had suffered attacks because of their ethnic origin or sexual orientation.
It said the research revealed evidence of police taking a "there is nothing we can do" approach towards so-called low-level harassment.

People who have suffered race hate attacks need special support
The victims wanted the police to be "more communicative and "more sympathetic and to take hate crime seriously".
Another common complaint was about lack of action by police, either to help solve problems or to pursue the perpetrator, it said.
Officers were also criticised for failing to keep victims fully informed about the progress of cases.
Mr Fawcett added: "Victims of hate crime can feel isolated in the community they live in, for example, if they were targeted because they are lesbian or gay, or they can feel isolated by language or culture if they have come to England from another country.
"The findings are worrying and disappointing. We are disappointed about the level of resources provided to deal with this hidden problem."
But where police had a specific brief to tackle hate crime there had been some success, he added.
Failure to tackle hate crimes undermines confidence in the criminal justice system and can bring fear to whole communities.

black panthers had some good ideas and tv show i saw showed white kids getting the free breakfast with them as well as blacks

true, maybe some were crazy radicals ,i really dont know that much about them, but i doint think they ever said they wanted to kill off the whites as a group

Lmao. I just spent about 2 hrs cruising that forum and found it to be utterly hilarious. Sadly, I can honestly say that I used to relate to many of the views those people had. Of course, this is totally ironic considering that I am half asian.

In spite of marrying an asian woman, my dad was full-on racist during most of my childhood. That is, we didn't think too highly of blacks and mexicans. My mom just sort of kept out of the racist discussions.

At some point, my dad just stopped being racist. It was sort of a gradual thing, I guess, because I didn't really notice it. I remained a fairly racist person up until my early 20's when I read a book called "Guns, Germs, & Steel" by Jared Diamond. That book pretty much changed my outlook on the disparities between whites and minorities in terms of social and technological advancement.

Then I went to college and took a bunch of psych and realized to an even greater extent just how utterly clueless of a person I really had been.

But, the point of my story is that if it weren't for Jared Diamond and psychology, I'd probably be hating mexicans and blacks to this very day. I'm not sure if Jared Diamond and psychology would do much in terms of influencing the views of people at stormfront.org. They'd probably instantly write off "Guns, Germs, and Steel" as the work of jew, and psychology as a communist conspiracy. Who knows.

That's great that you hate all hate based organization but why do you only single out the hispanic one's. Why is every thread you start on this board about La Raza or the Nation of Aztlan. Every single thread and post you put up on this message board is a negative refelection of hispanics. Imagine if I came on this message board and all I did was start threads about white supremacy organizations and every single post was information about a negative aspect of the anglo population in this country. I'm sure a whole lot of the anglos on here would be pretty pissed and they would have the right to. I'll tell you what pisses me off about that Stormfront site ... there are thousands of people on there all the time and it never crashes ... as opposed to here, where it crashes every time tickets go on sale and we get a fraction as many people as they have on a normal day.
