in regaurds to Murthas' comments. Why is his comments ok. If someone said that Baltimore will vote for Obama because there is a bunch of N****** there people would be ready to burn that person at the stake. But since a white guy called white people racist then retracted and called them rednecks it is alright?

I don't think anyone thinks his comments are OK ... I've seen a lot of coverage on it.
I will say, there's a far different tone to the "N" word than the word racist ...
but, here's the thing, Murtha will reap what he sews ... his constituants have the power to vote him out of they so chose. He's up for re-election.

Ok first of all it looks like you might have misunderstood what he was saying. What Murtha said was "western Pennsylvania is a racist area." He didn't use a racial slur like "crackers", so your N-word comparison is way off. He never even mentioned white people so I don't know why you're bringing that up. He said racist area, that could mean whites, blacks, or any race.
What he said was true, western Pennsylvania IS a racist area. How do I know? I live there. I see it all the time. I've recently talked to people around here who absolutely agree with what he said. I hear the N word around here all the time, much more than when I lived in FL. When you have people dressing up a Curious George monkey doll as Obama, I'd say that's racist.
We could afford to stop being so politically correct. Facts are facts, there's a lot of racism around here. I'm not saying everyone around here is a racist "cracker", I'm saying there is a heavy presence of racism in this area.
One final note, if you expect people to take you seriously, at least try to write with some level of proper grammar. Your opening lines have the word regards spelled wrong, a misplaced apostrophe, a period where a question mark should be, and the sentence "Why is his comments ok." I'm not trying to be the grammar police, but it makes you sound illiterate and I'm sure you're not.
99% huh? From where did you pull that figure? Your ass probably. I'm sure there's no black people voting for Obama because they actually think he's a better candidate, no that would just be crazy. If 99% of blacks are voting for Obama because race, then 99% of whites are voting for McCain for the same reason. That makes as much sense as what you said. Go listen to some more Rush Limbaugh.
You must be effing blind 99% of black people you've lost it. I'm black and I'm NOT voting for Obama. This as bad a comment you've made here as you did on that allegeded hate crime mugging thread.
Peace

You're black? Hell yea. Never knew that. Good to know we have some diversity around here. I'm half black myself...black from the waist down. (kidding) Actually I'm Hispanic.
It appears a lot of folks are forgetting Obama is HALF Black but yeah I'm as black as they come. I just happen to like and do a ton of things NOT associated with the stereotypical black person.

Oh Yeah I forgot about my BEANTOWN loving self. Back in College my friends could not understand how in the world I could be a CELTIC fan and love Larry Bird.
What made it worse I once lived in Brooklyn, NY.

Wasn't there a scene in "She's Gotta Have It" where a Bernard King fan and a Bird fan go round and round?
Sorry, english was not my strong subject. Math, science and history was were I excelled. I also was being rushed by a 6 month old and well she gets priority over proof reading.

Ok, you're off the hook then.
Exactly my friends were just like that except our scenes happened first and in the 80's. Oh and with a lot more curse words.

I lived the first 30 years of my life in western PA and in Pittsburgh, and I agree. But it's a weird sort of racism. It's nothing liked you'd think of the lynching, kkk kind of way. Age-wise it's an old town, and there are some deeply held stereotypical views of black people. However, they (collectively) are racist against blacks that they don't know. I worked for years with an older, mostly white, union staff, and with black people who they worked with an knew, there was a lot of respect and genuine friendships. But when it came down to strangers, there was that line of thinking that black people were lazy, criminals, and all those stereotypes. Almost like the ones they've gotten to know where the "good ones".
And even in regards to the black people who they didn't know (and held the stereotypical views against), it wasn't a hatred, or to the point that they wouldn't help them, but just sorta looking down on them in a disappointing way.

absolutely spot on with my experiences.
Western PA has some beautiful mountainous country. Pittsburgh also has it's beauty with those other small towns tucked near the mountains. I saw my musician friend Michael Franti play a couple shows at Mr. Smalls and such nice venue on the side of that hill with a view. Nice town but I wasn't there both times long enough to get to know the people.
However, everyone seemed friendly enough.
