Amazing film... if you havnt.. you should...

http://wwjbmovie.com/

An examination of the commercialization of Christmas in America while following Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping Gospel Choir on a cross-country mission to save Christmas from the Shopocalypse (the end of humankind from consumerism, over-consumption and the fires of eternal debt.) The film also delves into issues such as the role sweatshops play in America’s mass consumerism and Big-Box Culture. From the humble beginnings of preaching at his portable pulpit on New York City subways, to having a congregation of thousands – Bill Talen (aka Rev. Billy) has become the leader of not just a church, but a national movement.

oh and yeah, stop shopping! This year for Christmas get your family something meaningful...give them more time and love and less insanely expensive gifts that will mean nothing to them eventually.

Peace :P

He'd probably buy a new Gillette Mach 5 razor and a pair of Reebok pumps.

I stopped getting gifts for Christmas years ago. I tell anyone who asks what I want to donate time or money to charity.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

He'd buy a McIntosh MCD 301, McIntosh c220 Tubed Pre Amplifier, the McIntish Mc402 power amp and a pair of Wharfedale Opus 2 loudspeakers.

'Cause Jesus doesn't buy cheap, mass-market components; but he also doesn't need McIntosh's extremely expensive Top Of The Line components, either.

Jesus knows how to rock his house!

I'm partial to the idea, minus the religion part. I have that anti-consumerist bent all by itself.
At age 28, I've been at the point for years that I have no clue what to wish for christmas. I really dont need anything, and if I do, I buy it. Personal gifts are much better.

    Peace

Well i think thats the whole point of this. I don't think its a religious statement at all (this movie) Its actually quite the opposite. I think the whole get up and idea stems from religious type things thats why i find it to be not only informative but entertaining :D I mean.. theres nothing better than a whole choir who tells you to stop shopping :D Another thing i love about this movie is they actually use religion as a platform to tell people they are idiots :D

and glad to hear ure on the meaningful gift train too :) I love buying stuff for people so its gonna take some restraint but its just silly to spend so much money specially considering how big the average family is these days.
