This is a must read. Here, Henry Siegman, the former head of the American Jewish Congress tells how Israel NEVER really wanted a two state solution, and at times actively undermined that initiative. Here's a couple of choice excerpts:

"In an interview in Ha’aretz in 2004, Dov Weissglas, chef de cabinet to the then prime minister, Ariel Sharon, described the strategic goal of Sharon’s diplomacy as being to secure the support of the White House and Congress for Israeli measures that would place the peace process and Palestinian statehood in ‘formaldehyde’ ".

"The Middle East peace process may well be the most spectacular deception in modern diplomatic history. Since the failed Camp David summit of 2000, and actually well before it, Israel’s interest in a peace process – other than for the purpose of obtaining Palestinian and international acceptance of the status quo – has been a fiction that has served primarily to provide cover for its systematic confiscation of Palestinian land and an occupation whose goal, according to the former IDF chief of staff Moshe Ya’alon, is ‘to sear deep into the consciousness of Palestinians that they are a defeated people’ ".

I'd prefer that people actually read this article before posting.

Israeli's believe that God gave them that land, period, so they will continue to settle the occupied territories, and the violence will continue, because land and life itself are more important than faith.

I'm starting to agree with a group of people who say that the two-state solution is impossible at this point, with 400,000+ settlers now living in the occupied territories.

They propose a single democratic state of all its citizens - Jewish, Arab, Christian, etc. Instead, the two-state solution requieres Israel to be defined as a Jewish democratic state.

it sucks that humanity is seperated by boundaries

hopefully someday we can share all land, all resources with eachother
..and you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable

You need to include the U.S in the equation. The U.S has unilaterally vetoed every attempt at a two state solution for the past 40 years. The facts speak for themselves. You don't seek peace by creating more settlements and by stealing more land, and engaging in more aggressive, and illegal incursions.
  • Bulldoze some more agriculture...that should do it. Bush may be the stupidest person that has ever lived. Now that Israel has nukes, the entire middle ease wants nukes for fear of being eradicated.

Way to go fucknub for starting the arms race back into full swing. Brilliant.

When the govt of today makes a point of promoting something...you can bet your ass the exact opposite is going on.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

mmmm, well, this article does talk about the U.S. a couple times....

"In a recent interview in Ha’aretz, James Wolfensohn, who was the Quartet’s representative at the time of the Gaza disengagement, said that Israel and the US had systematically undermined the agreement he helped forge in 2005 between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, and had instead turned Gaza into a vast prison. The official behind this, he told Ha’aretz, was Elliott Abrams, the deputy national security adviser. ‘Every aspect’ of the agreement Wolfensohn had brokered ‘was abrogated’."
